Ex Wife's Collapse After Divorce novel Chapter 82

Chapter 82

Damian’s face went from red to white.

“You-” His jaw clenched, the vein at his temple standing out. “You arrogant piece of-”

“How dare you,” Vivian cut in, her voice climbing, shrill with anger. “Do you hear the garbage coming out of your mouth? You have no right-”

Ethan wasn’t listening anymore.

“The paperwork’s filed,” he said simply. “It’s done. And I don’t have any more time to waste standing here with the two of you.”

He straightened his jacket.

And then, without another word, without waiting for a reply, he turned and walked away-leaving them standing on the city hall steps, red-faced and speechless in the sun.

“What the hell is wrong with you, Ethan Carter?” Vivian’s voice cracked as she hurled the words at the

empty street.

“That bastard,” Vivian spat. She spun toward Damian. “Did you hear him? Did you hear the way he spoke to us? Like I was nothing. Like three years meant nothing.”

“It meant nothing to him,” Damian said quietly. “You see that now, don’t you?”

“I see it.” Her voice shook with rage. “I see all of it. God, I was an idiot to ever-”

She didn’t finish. She just pressed her palm against her forehead and stood there breathing hard.

Damian moved closer, letting his hand settle on her shoulder. “He’s not worth it, Vivian. A man like that- no skills, no money, no future. The only reason he walks around with his chin up is because Aurora Sinclair lets him.”

“A kept man,” Vivian said bitterly. “My ex-husband is a kept man.”

“And an arrogant one.” Damian shook his head. “The way he talked about Nathan, about Hale Realty-he thinks he’s untouchable now. Someone needs to teach him a lesson.”

Vivian went still.

“Teach him a lesson,” she repeated slowly. “What do you mean by that?”

Damian’s smile widened, easy and indulgent, as if the answer were obvious.

“What do you think I mean?” he said. “I mean I make him hurt. A word in the right ear, a few men on a dark street, and our clever little deputy director learns what happens when he opens his mouth at the wrong people.”

He gave a low, careless laugh. “A beating does wonders for a man’s manners.”

Vivian’s anger stalled.

She pictured Ethan on the ground. Blood on his face. His hands raised to protect himself.

Her lips parted, but no words came out at first.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I don’t think that’s-”

“You don’t think what?” Damian’s voice sharpened. “You don’t think he deserves it? After everything he’s done to you? The divorce, the humiliation, the way he flaunts Aurora Sinclair in front of your face?”

“That’s different.”

“How? How is it different?”
