Chapter 0111
ALLISON’S POV
Despite telling myself I wouldn’t let the nerves of being a newbie get to me, that I’d do a good job and somehow wow everyone, it’s painfully obvious I was lying to myself.
It’s been an hour since we started shooting, and my sweat pores have decided to show up on set in full force. I know it’s nerves, me, and my body betraying me at the worst possible time but I can’t seem to stop it, even as I feel like I’m actively ruining a campaign that’s supposed to show how good my skin is.
There are so many eyes here, so many people, so many cameras capturing every possible angle and I’m supposed to give my best. This is my time to shine. I’ve already crossed the hardest part which was the meeting three days ago. I’ve learned my lines, memorized every cue, and this is supposed to be the first shoot of five for this campaign.
And I’m about to ruin everything.
“Allison.”
I turn toward the voice.
It’s the on-set director, walking towards me with a clipboard in hand and I immediately straighten, trying to compose myself.
“Hi,” I say, like an idiot.
“Hi.” She steps closer, dropping her voice slightly. “Do you need a moment?”
“I’m fine,” I respond immediately.
She looks at me or at my forehead, specifically.
“I can see that you’re nervous,” she says, not unkindly. “And unfortunately it’s starting to show in the footage.”
My stomach drops somewhere around my ankles. “I’m so sorry, I-”
“Don’t apologize.” She holds up a hand. “I’m not saying it to make you feel bad. I’m saying it because I need you to hear it so we can fix it.” She tilts her head slightly. “Is it possible for you to take five minutes? Step away, breathe, reset?”
I nod because my mouth has stopped working properly.
“Good.” She gestures toward the back of the set. “Take the time and actually use it.”
