Fake Dating My Ex's Hockey Star Brother (Maya Scott) novel Chapter 254

Chapter 0112

ALLISON’S POV

Jessica might as well have gone off to start a whole family wherever she disappeared to.

I check my watch again and it’s almost an hour since she left to grab a drink and something to eat, and still no sign of her. Katy’s supposed to meet me any minute, and I’ve got drama practice in an hour.

And honestly? I’m not in the mood to deal with Aaron and his ridiculous lateness fees. Last time, he took ten bucks from me and call me cheap or whatever but it genuinely gave me heartburn.

I rise to my feet and head to the door, poking my head out to check if Jessica’s on her way back and freeze.

What the hell.

Josh?

My-mind struggles to process the sight for a full second. Josh. And behind him, Sean, Kristy, and Carson, moving this way.

Something jolts through my body and I jerk back from the doorway, retreating to the desk I’d been sitting on. I press my palms flat against the surface, trying to ground myself, but my heart won’t slow down no

matter how much I try.

I don’t even know what I’m feeling right now but it’s something closer to fear. Fear that I’m about to be

cornered, and ambushed by my despicable ex and his entire orbit descending on me at once.

“Please, please, don’t let this-”

The door slides open before I can finish.

Slowly, I turn.

And there they are, filing in one by one like they were invited. Josh’s gaze finds mine first, and a faint smirk pulls at his lips as he advances.

“Hey, Allie.”

I hate his voice, I don’t miss it. I hate his face. I want to elbow his nose straight off his skull.

“What do you want?” I ask, pulling myself to my full height. “Jessica’s not here. She’s in charge.”

He scoffs and glances back at Sean, who’s doing an impressive job trying to blend in with the shelving unit, just standing stiff and useless. He’s the same as always: a coward, a lousy, good-for-nothing shadow who’s always two steps behind Josh, wagging his tail and waiting to be told what to do.

“Sean, come say hi to an old friend.” Josh’s gaze slides back to me. “She’s gotten hotter, don’t you think?”

“Babe, I’m right here.” Kristy’s voice cuts in before I can open my mouth.

Her hand lands on Josh’s shoulder and she gives him a squeeze, almost like she’s staking her claim. Good for her. She should hold him tight and chain him to her if she can manage it. Nobody on this earth deserves this particular pile of rubbish more than she does, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

“You should all leave if you’ve got no business here,” I say, letting my gaze move across each of them.”

This isn’t your personal hangout spot and I’ve got work to do.”

Josh chuckles. “Relax. We’re here for Sean.” He tilts his head back toward him. “He’s got something he

wants from this place. Found it yet?”

Sean finally steps forward, holding up a book about the Cultural Heritage of Indigenous Americans and

opens his mouth. “I have a photography-”

“You don’t need to explain anything to me.” I cut him off and move behind the desk, pulling up the register.

When I look up, he’s just standing there, staring and I raise an eyebrow. “Name and book you’re borrowing?

Josh scoffs, more irritated.

Sean reaches out to stop him but Josh swats his hand away, steps forward and plants both palms flat on

the desk. He leans in.

“Really? Going this low?” His eyes stay on mine. “You know Allie, if Sean could put up with you being the most insufferable girl he’s ever dated, the least you could do is speak to him like a human being.”

Calm down, Allison. You don’t have to go off on him. There are four of them. You are one. Outnumbered at every angle, and bad things happen to people every single day on the news.

“I don’t owe him my respect.” I state. “Please step away from the desk.”

He slams a hand down on it instead and it takes everything I have not to flinch.

“Why do you always act like a fucking child?” he demands. “You think the world revolves around you but it doesn’t. Nobody wants you, not me, not him!”

I tilt my head, holding his gaze and my fingers curl slowly on the desk.

“A child?” I ask. “So you wanted to hook up with a child? Or am I a child because I wouldn’t let you put your diseased d**k anywhere near me? And who says I care about what you think of me? I’d just really appreciate it if you piss off.”

His jaw ticks,

For one split second, I think something drastic is about to happen, and I’m fully prepared to smash this keyboard across his face if it comes to that but the door swings open and someone steps in.

My gaze snaps to it. It’s not Jessica like I expect but Bryan.

Josh straightens almost immediately as Bryan steps up to the desk, and his gaze moves slowly around the room. He shouldn’t even be here because he’s suspended but he must sense something’s off, especially since it’s not the first time he’s caught me in a moment like this.

His brows pull together as his eyes settle on Sean.
