Chapter 156

SLOANE’S POINT OF VIEW.

The stadium lights blared as the sounds of the students roaring in cheers for the upcoming game blasted through the walls, and the girls and I took our

seats at the front.

“You think this was the fucking Super Bowl?” Amara yelled over their screams so we could hear her. “Relax, people, it’s just Lucien and his team in high

school.”

“Not just high school,” Seraphina said, munching on her Pringles. “Ravenscroft’s on the team, and he’s fucking captain, so of course everyone’s losing their

minds.”

I snatched the bag of snacks from her and shoved about eight of the chips into my mouth. “Whoa, tiger. You’re eating that like someone’s gonna snatch it

from you.”

“Try being on your period. I deserve this, okay? Does it feel like someone’s cutting up the lower abdomen?” I snapped and pouted before shoving more chips into my mouth, barely caring about whoever was watching me.

“Fair enough. You can have it all.”

My throat tightened as I sipped on her apple juice. In no time, the school’s hockey team ran out the doors with a roar, sending the crowd into a frenzy as everyone screamed their heads off.

“Go, Reapers!” The cheerleading team screamed, dressed in their now red uniforms. Since Roxanne was no longer their queen, they no longer had to wear the uniforms she chose for them. I glanced at her from the corner of my eye as she refilled bottles of water for the team.

She had better not go near my man’s bottle.

Lucien was impossible to miss among the players. He stood tall in the centre, dressed in his full gear as he chewed on something. I smiled at the sight of him commanding his teammates, going fully into his role as captain. His blonde air looked a little damp, as it shone against the sunlight. His number- 7- gleamed on his clothes, as he turned around; his eyes searching in the audience.

He looked around for a few seconds before his eyes stopped on mine. The second we made eye contact, he smiled broadly at me and lifted his hand in a wave. I waved back at him with a shy smile, my cheeks growing hotter at the thought of this happening in front of everyone.

“Oohh, look at lover girl.” Seraphina teased, brushing her shoulders with mine as she and Amara snickered.

“Stop it,” I whispered, trying to avert my gaze from Lucien, but he didn’t look away from me for even a moment, making me feel like my soul was being

sucked in as I stared back at him with an even wider smile.

“Uh-oh. Love struck much?” Amara muttered.

“Shut up.”

Seraphina threw her head back in laughter instantly, her dark eyes running over he crowd in search of someone, a small secret smile on her lips. “She can’t help it. Bad boys in their natural habitat are… compelling”

I looked at both of them in that moment, feigning an angry look as I said, “Stop” My cheeks were on fire.

“Oh, please. Anyone can see how whipped you two are for each other.” Amara sh, but before I could say something stupid, the whistle blew, signalling the start of the game.

“Did the party start without me?” Theo’s voice called playfully as he took his seat next to Seraphina; the latter, who was not looking away shyly, had her cheeks slightly red.

“Theo! Wait…how come you’re not playing?”

“Nah…I don’t want to ruin my swagger.” He said, his accent prominent.

“Oh, future duke things, right? Do you feel like we’re pure commoners now? Especially since it’s going to be official in a few months Amara snickered

“You were all commoners long before all this happened. This just means it’s really official that I’m better than you.” The idiot said with a smug smile.

I watched Seraphina with a confused smile. Her body language felt off. She and Theo seemed to be sitting close….too close for people who claim to hate each other. Their occasional glances felt too intimate, and I could see that their hands were secretly joined, but hidden under Theo’s varsity jacket.

That’s…..odd,

“Oh look, Lucien just scored,” Theo said, forcing my gaze away from them and to the field, as the crowd went wilder than before as my boyfriend put the

school in the winning category.

But before I could cheer for him, I heard an agitating, grating voice. “Of course you’d sit here,” Roxanne said, glaring at me with her hands folded and blocking my view of the field.

“Move out of the way, Barbie.” Amara hissed, fixing her an even harsher glare.

I fixed her with a glare of my own, but smiled sweetly at her; “Funny, I didn’t know plastic could stand under stage lights without melting. Again, remind me to never go to your doctor, botched queen.”

Beside me, Seraphina tilted her head, and in a dangerously low whisper, she said. You should move along. Unless humiliation is what you came for, I have been itching to smack a bitch.”

Roxanne’s eyes flickered between us, then with a groan, she huffed, turned, and stalked off, he arms swinging as she walked.

Amara whistled low with a chuckle as she stared at Seraphina and me. “Damn, tag-team savagery. I love it.”

After what felt like forever, the game was over. Lucien and his team had won. The arena lit up with screams and cheers as everyone screamed their beads off for the Ravenscroft Reapers. My chest welled with pride at the sight of Lucien taking off his helmet and removing his mouth guard.

He poured water all over his head and shook it off, making him look like a model in an advertisement, as different girls blushed and looked away shyly at the sight. My chest swelled again, but this time, it was mixed with possessiveness. The knowledge that he was truly mine now, and no one could take him

from me,

felt like icing on a cake.

‘Forget the damn note, Sloane. It’s probably someone trying to prank you.’

I stared at my boyfriend as my body lit up from the intensity of his gaze. His eyes not once strayed from mine, as he moved through the crowd like no one

else was around him.

Until he stopped in front of me.

Before I could say anything, he crashed his lips to mine in a hot kiss.

A hot, sweaty, messy, and damn it, so public. His mouth crashed into mine, claing me in front of everyone. Teachers, students, rivals, it didn’t fucking matter. The world of Ravenscroft High roared around us, but all I could feel was e searing press of him, the taste of victory and danger flooding me, as I

kissed him back with as much hunger.

When he pulled back, the smirk on his lips was wicked and so proud. “Mine,” he said, loud enough for anyone with ears and a listening ability to hear it.

The crowd went insane, as their phones were whipped out, and the flashes of the cameras were everywhere.

My chest felt like it would explode from the force of my heart’s pounding.
