FAKE DATING WITH BENEFITS MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS (Ophelia Corrigan) novel Chapter 146

CHAPTER 146

MON

“Are you jealous?”

“No.”

“Jamie.”

“I’m not jealous.”

“You’re holding that glass like it insulted your family.”

Her fingers loosened immediately.

I laughed.

“It’s not funny.”

“It’s a little funny.”

Jamie turned to face me.

“Fine. I didn’t like it.”

My smile disappeared. “What exactly didn’t you like?”

“Hearing another woman talk to you like that right in front of me.”

Fair.

“Okay.”

She blinked. “That’s it?”

“What do you want me to say? That I never slept with her?”

“No.”

“Because I did.”

“Simon.”

“You said you prefer the truth.”

She blew out a breath through her nose. “Sometimes you could put a pretty little bow on it.”

I laughed. “Jamie, I had a life before you. You had one before me.”

“I know. It’s just…” She hesitated. “How many models here have you slept with?”

I almost smiled. “Do you really want me to answer that?”

“No.” She grimaced. “Actually, definitely not. But why bring me somewhere when you knew we might run into one of them?”

“What did you expect me to do? Come alone just to avoid every woman I’ve ever been involved with?” I tilted my head. “Jamie, we’re in New York. I could run into someone from my past anywhere.”

She looked away, still clearly bothered.

I caught her chin and turned her face back to mine.

“But none of them is my fiancée.”

Her eyes met mine again.

“You are.”

I slowly ran my thumb along her jaw.

The tension in her face eased.

“You’re annoyingly good at this.”

“At what?”

“Saying exactly the right thing.”

“That’s because I’m excellent at almost everything.”

She rolled her eyes.

The music changed.

Slower this time.

I glanced toward the makeshift dance floor in the middle of the room.

“Come on.”

“Where?”

I took her glass and set it on a nearby table.

“Dance with me.”

She drew in a breath when I took her hand and pulled her with me.

People were dancing near the runway, though most of the guests were still talking.

I wrapped one arm around her waist and held her other hand.

“Simon, everyone’s looking.”

“Then look at me.”

She did.

started moving slowly.

“Better?”

“A little.”

I pulled her closer.

“Bianca meant nothing.”

Jamie arched a brow.

“And it was a long time ago. Honestly, I barely remember who I was back then.”

She laughed against my chest. “Liar.”

“I’m serious.”

My arm tightened around her waist.

“Want to know the difference?”

“Between me and your six-foot-tall, size-zero models?”

“Yes.”

Jamie tipped her face up. “What?”

I looked straight into her eyes.

“None of them ever stayed in my head once they were out of my bed. You do. All the fucking time.” I moved closer. “When something happens, you’re the person I want to call. When something goes right, you’re the person I want to find. When my day is shit, yours is the voice I want to hear. And when I wake up…” I held her gaze. “You’re who I want beside me. Not for one night. Not until I get bored. Every damn day, Jamie. That’s the fucking difference.”

Her smile slowly disappeared.

“Simon…”

“Now you understand how much I love you. And how badly I want everyone in my world to know it.”

Jamie swallowed.

“I think you’ve made it pretty clear.”

She took a deep breath and rested her forehead against my chest.

“I’m sorry.”

I kept moving us slowly across the floor, feeling her body relax against mine.

A few seconds later, she murmured, “I love you too.”

Kuopp

opped.

Jamie looked up. “Why did you stop?”

“Say it again.”

She laughed. “No.”

“Jamie.”

“You heard me.”

“I want to hear it again.”

She tried to hide her smile.

“I love you, Simon.”

Fuck.

I dipped my head and kissed her forehead.

“Better.”

“Idiot.”

“Completely in love.”

That shut her up.

And I liked it.

I liked it because for the first time all night, she seemed to forget about the cameras, Bianca, the staring, and everyone else in the room.

When the song ended, Kelly was standing behind us.

“Mr. Hart. Miss Collins.”

Something in her expression made me straighten.
