FAKE DATING WITH BENEFITS MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS (Ophelia Corrigan) novel Chapter 89

CHAPTER 89

MON

The elevator stopped on the legal floor and I was already moving before the doors finished opening.

The hallway was dead quiet. Almost pitch black.

I rounded the corner in long strides, breathing controlled, jaw locked.

That’s when I heard it.

The second elevator. Doors sliding open, the sound echoing down the empty corridor like a warning.

Shit. He was already here.

I picked up the pace, shoes slapping against the marble floor. Her office door was cracked open, a sliver of light spilling into the hallway.

I walked in without knocking.

Jamie spun around with a start, eyes wide.

She was still in her panties. Bra and blouse on the floor, body exposed under the dim glow of the desk lamp.

“Simon?!” Her voice came out thin. “What… what are you doing here?”

I didn’t answer.

Crossed the room in three steps and killed the lamp. The office dropped into darkness.

I pulled the cord, closing the blinds over the glass. The slats clicked into place with a sharp snap.

Then I turned to the door.

“Simon, what the hell?” She was already moving toward me, arms crossed over her chest, body rigid. “Are you going to tell me what you’re doing?”

I heard the footsteps.

Echoing in the hallway. Getting closer.

In a split second, I grabbed her wrist, spun her against the door, and clamped my hand over her mouth.

“Someone’s out there.”

She went still. I felt her heart pounding against my chest, her breath hot against my palm.

“Shh.”

My eyes slid to the gap between the curtain and the window. Jamie followed my gaze.

And she saw.

Ethan was outside, in the cubicle area. Backpack slung over one shoulder, headphones around his neck. He stopped at his desk, grabbed something, messed around for a few seconds.

Then he turned.

And killed the lights.

The hallway went dark. Footsteps faded, the sound of the elevator opening and closing.

Silence.

I lifted my hand from her mouth but didn’t step back.

“You weren’t supposed to be home with your side piece?” she whispered, eyes still fixed on the door. “How the hell did you get here so fast?”

“Flew.”

I looked down.

My eyes landed on her breasts under the white shirt, nipples hard against the thin fabric.

Fuck.

All I wanted was to run my tongue over them.

“Stop being an idiot!”

She shoved my chest, trying to break free, but I pulled her back by the waist.

“I was always here. At the office.”

She blinked. Once. Twice.

“You were?”

“You think I’m that stupid?” My voice lost the sarcasm, going rough. “That we break up four days ago and I’m already sleeping with someone else?”

“You told me you were with another woman,” she whispered, still not looking at me. “How am I supposed to know you’re lying? Do I have a crystal ball?”

A bitter smile tugged at my lips. “No. But you have a brain. Use it.”

She finally looked up, and what I saw in her eyes made me forget everything I was going to say. There was hurt, yeah. But there was also want. A raw, hungry want that mirrored my own.

“You’re the most stubborn woman I’ve ever met,” I murmured, tilting my head. “You know that?”

“And you’re the most arrogant, infuriating man I’ve ever met.”

“So we’re even.”

My gaze dropped to her lips. She bit the bottom one, an involuntary move that made me lose my

mon…” Her voice was a warning.

“What?”

“We can’t…”

“We can.” My hand left her wrist and slid up to the back of her neck, fingers threading through her hair. “You want to.”

“I don’t-”

“You want to.” I repeated it, voice a low command. “It’s written all over you. In your breathing. In your scent. In the heat of your body against mine.”

She opened her mouth to argue, but I didn’t let her. I covered her lips with mine.

My tongue slid against hers, tasting coffee and something sweet I couldn’t name. She moaned into my mouth, a low, desperate sound that made me want more.

Then she pulled back. Her hands pushed against my chest, and I retreated, confused.

“Wait.” She ran her fingers through her hair, breathless. “We can’t do this.”

Why not?

“Because nothing’s changed.” She bent down to grab her blouse, but I caught her arm, stopping her.

The clothes could wait.

“No.” My voice came out rougher than I intended. “You’re going to hear me out.”

“Simon-

“You rejected me. Said you couldn’t trust me. That I was the last man you’d ever imagine falling for you. And I accepted that. Respected it. Didn’t come after you. Didn’t push.”

I took a step forward. She didn’t back up.

“But now you’re here. Alone. Putting on a show for a camera you knew I was watching.” My eyes dropped to her breasts, still bare, then back up. “What did you want me to do, Jamie?”

Her face went red. “I didn’t-”

“You did a striptease because you were pissed at the idea of me being with someone else?” My voice hardened, but my eyes never left hers. “So that means you want this. Deep down, way deep down, you want this.”

She opened her mouth. Closed it. Looked away.

“I don’t trust you,” she whispered. “That hasn’t changed.”

“I know.” I stepped closer, my hand finding her chin and tilting it up gently. “But you trust your body. You

don’t feel anything.”

“You’re a terrible liar, counselor.”

She held my gaze.

There was a war happening behind her eyes. I could see every part of her trying to decide whether to tell me to go to hell or pull me closer.

Neither of us spoke.

I moved in closer.

She didn’t back away.

Didn’t look away.

Just stood there, breathing too fast, lips slightly parted, while the little space left between us disappeared.

Then her fingers closed around my tie.

And she pulled.
