I pulled my panties on with fingers that still trembled, feeling his gaze burning into my back.

“You gonna stand there staring at me?” I asked, pulling my blouse over my head. “Or are you going to get dressed too?”

Simon stayed seated on the edge of the desk, pants still open, his cock already half-hard again inside black boxer briefs.

“I like watching you get dressed. Almost as good as watching you take your clothes off.”

“You’re insufferable, you know that?”

“You said that before I fucked you against this desk. Nothing’s changed.”

My cheeks burned. I ignored him and finished getting dressed, running my fingers through my hair in a useless attempt to tame the mess.

I looked exactly like what had just happened: a woman who’d been fucked in her office after hours by her own boss.

I grabbed my bag from the chair while Simon finally stood and fixed his pants with the irritating calm of a man who hadn’t just made a huge mistake.

“Let’s go,” I said, walking toward the door. “It’s late. I need to get home.”

“What time is it?”

“Almost nine.”

He looked at me for a long moment, something unreadable in those blue eyes. “I’ll drive you.”

“You don’t have to. I’ll grab a cab.”

“You’ll grab a what?” He was already reaching for his blazer on the back of the chair. “You think I’m letting you take a cab at nine at night in Manhattan?”

“Simon, I do it all the time.”

“Not tonight.” His voice was firm. Non-negotiable.

“I’m not going to argue with you.”

“Great. Then we can go.”

We left the office in silence. The hallway was completely empty, emergency lights casting weak shadows over the cubicles. My heels echoed on the marble floor, his footsteps a deep counterpoint behind me.

I pressed the elevator button. The doors opened.

We stepped in. The doors closed.

The silence was heavy. I kept my eyes fixed on the floor numbers lighting up, feeling the heat of his body beside me. I didn’t dare look.

Then I felt his fingers find mine.

It was a simple gesture. Subtle. Just his fingers sliding between mine, intertwining with a naturalness that shouldn’t exist between two people who swore they felt nothing.

My heart skipped.

I turned to face him, but Simon was looking at the elevator doors, expression neutral, jaw slightly tight Like holding my hand when no one was watching was the most normal thing in the world.

I felt awkward. Didn’t know where to put my other hand, my eyes, my thoughts. So I just stood there, letting my fingers rest in his, feeling his thumb trace slow circles against my skin.

The doors opened in the garage.

I dropped his hand on instinct and walked out ahead of him, my steps quick against the cold concrete. The air smelled like gasoline and dust.

Simon didn’t call after me. Just followed with that irritating calm, like he knew exactly where I was going.

I walked to his parking spot, expecting the black Bugatti.

Instead, a red Ferrari sat there.

I stopped so abruptly I almost tripped over my own feet.

“What car is that?”

Simon came up beside me, keys spinning between his fingers. “Ferrari 812 Superfast.”

“What happened to the other one?”

“It’s in for service.” He shrugged. “Decided to switch it up.”

“Switch it up?” I looked at the car, then at him. “You had a Bugatti and you decided to switch it up to a Ferrari?”

“Problem?”

“No. Just impressed by your ability to be impossibly pretentious in any situation.”

He laughed that low, rough sound that made something twist in my stomach.

His hand found my lower back, warm through the thin fabric of my blouse, guiding me toward the car.

He opened the passenger door for me.

“Get in.”

I got in. The interior was immaculate: black leather, red accents, the smell of new car mixed with his

cologne. Simon walked around and got in on the other side, the engine roaring to life.

“You gonna be quiet the whole way?” he asked, maneuvering out of the garage.

“I’m thinking.”

“About what?”

“About how ridiculous you are.”

He smiled sideways, eyes on the road. “You just called me ridiculous after I made you come twice on an office desk?”

“Technically, it was once.”

“Twice. You came when I put my fingers in you before I fucked you.”

“Technically, that doesn’t count.”

“It counts. I felt it.”

I smacked his arm. “You’re impossible.”

We smiled together, then went quiet.

The silence stretched for a few blocks. The city passed in a blur of lights, buildings rising like concrete sentinels. I stared out the window, trying not to think about how his hand still rested on the gear shift, fingers long and precise.

“Jamie.”

“What?”

“Look at me.”

I turned. He took his eyes off the road for a second-just one-and what I saw made me hold my breath. It wasn’t the arrogant smile or the mocking look. It was something deeper. More dangerous.

“You know this isn’t going to end well, right?”

My chest tightened. “What do you mean?”

“This.” He gestured vaguely between us. “You pretending you don’t feel anything. Me pretending I believe it.”

“Simon-”

“I’m not asking you for anything.” He put his eyes back on the road. “Just saying I’m not an idiot.”

I stayed quiet. I didn’t have an answer for that.
