Fake Daughter Is The Real Legend (Iris Sutton) novel Chapter 377

Chapter 377 The God of War.

The moment she said the name, the door of the old house slowly opened.

A middle-aged woman stepped outside. She was elegantly dressed, and her graceful appearance seemed completely out of place among the group of rough-looking men surrounding Iris.

Iris’s eyes narrowed slightly.

So she had come in person.

Before Iris could say anything, Rumi spoke.

“Iris, don’t blame me for luring you here. If you hadn’t returned to the Noir family none of this would have happened. You took everything that once belonged to Chloe, and I can’t simply stand by and let you do whatever you please.”

Iris looked at her calmly. “Aunt Rumi, out of respect for Grandma Evelyn and Julie, I’ve been willing to overlook your hostility toward me. But I have to admit, you went to quite a lot of trouble to bring me here.”

She glanced around at the men surrounding her. “My parents don’t seem to be here, so I’m guessing you have them somewhere safe and used them as bait to lure me here.”

Her gaze returned to Rumi. “What I don’t understand is why you’re willing to go this far for someone who isn’t even your biological daughter. Have you ever thought about how Julie would feel if she found out what you’ve done for Chloe?”

Rumi’s expression flickered.

She stared at Iris for several seconds before finally smiling. “I treated Chloe like my own daughter.”

“Then why didn’t you just adopt her?”

Rumi’s smile disappeared. “Of course I wanted to.”

Her voice grew heavier as she recalled the past. “But my mother wouldn’t allow it. My ex-boyfriend died in an accident, and Chloe was his daughter. I loved him, and I loved Chloe too, even though she wasn’t my biological child. I wanted to bring her home and raise her myself, but my mother threatened to disown me if I did.”

“So I had no choice. I put Chloe in an orphanage.”

A

Her gaze returned to Iris. “Then I heard that the Noir family had just welcomed a newborn daughter.”

Iris’s expression remained calm, but her eyes grew colder. “That was you.”

“Yes” Rumi didn’t deny it. “I arranged for you to be taken away. I gave you to another family and promised them a company in exchange for adopting you and raising you until you turned twenty.”

She paused before continuing, “Then I spent years trying to convince Richard and Eleanor to adopt Chloe. It took a great deal of effort, but eventually, I succeeded.”

“I thought that would be the end of it. I never imagined the Noir family’s search would eventually lead them back to you.”

Her gaze hardened.

But twenty years later, they still found you.”

“And you came back.”

“Everything I’d worked for was about to fall apart.”

Rumi had never handled the matter personally. She had always used interraediaries and false identities. If the Noir family discovered that she had been behind Iris’s disappearance, she knew exactly what would happen to her.

“I couldn’t let that happen.”

She looked at Iris one last time. “So, Iris… farewell.”

Rumi turned toward the men.

“Get her.”

The men immediately moved.

But Rumi had made one serious mistake.

She had mistaken Iris’s calmness for fear.

The first man lunged at her, but Iris moved before he could reach her. She sidestepped his attack, caught his wrist, and twisted it sharply.

A sickening crack echoed through the clearing.

The man’s face contorted in pain. Before he could recover, Iris drove her elbow into his ribs and sent him staggering backward.

The other men froze for a split second.

“She’s trained!” one of them shouted.

“No kidding!” another yelled as Iris ducked beneath his punch. “She’s too damn fast!”

“Stop standing around and get her!”

Three men rushed her at once.

Iris remained remarkably calm. She slipped between them, dodging one attack while using another man’s momentum to send him crashing into his companion.

Rumi’s expression finally changed.

She had expected Iris to be frightened and helpless after coming here alone.

She had never imagined that the girl she’d spent years trying to get rid of would be this difficult to handle.

“Why are you all having trouble with one woman?” Rumi snapped.

One of the men gritted his teeth as he struggled back to his feet. “She’s not an ordinary woman!”

Another man wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and shouted, “She’s too fast! We can’t pin her down!”

Madam Young! We can’t hold her!”

Rumi instinctively took a step backward.

Then-

Whup-whup-whup-whup-

The thunderous sound of helicopter blades suddenly echoed through the forest.

Everyone froze.

The trees above them shook violently as a helicopter emerged from the darkness, sweeping low over the clearing

The force of its rotors sent leaves and dust spiraling through the air.

Rumi looked up, her face paling.
