Helen was actually doing terribly at school. She couldn’t make any close friends and didn’t even know how to interact with people. Several classmates
ullied her, tore up her notebooks, and poured glue onto her chair.
But she didn’t dare tell Noelle.
First, she didn’t want Noelle to worry.
Second… she didn’t want Noelle to know how useless she was. She couldn’t even handle the most basic relationships. Other people can make friends so easily. Why can’t I? Will Noelle also think my personality is too strange? Will she… look down on me?
There were only three days left until the SAT.
Helen’s classes were suspended as well.
Helen felt a sense of relief. She packed up her books and sent Noelle a message.
“Noelle, we don’t have class after today. I need to pack my things, so I might be back a bit late. Don’t wait for me for dinner.”
She was being overly careful. After all, she was living in Noelle’s house. She was scared, really scared, of causing trouble for Noelle.
She could just grab something to eat later.
Noelle replied quickly: “It’s okay. Take your time. We’ll wait for you.”
Seeing that message warmed Helen’s heart. She sped up as she packed, then strode toward the classroom door.
But the moment she reached the doorway, she was stopped.
A backpack blocked her path. Three girls who often bullied Helen stood in front of her with smug smiles. “Yo, Helen. In such a hurry? Where are you headed?”
“Move.”
Helen’s expression was cold.
“Oh? Raising your voice now, huh? Don’t be so fierce. We just have a few questions for you. Come on, let’s go talk over there.”
Two girls stepped forward, one on each side, hooking their arms around Helen and forcefully dragging her toward the girls‘ restroom.
Helen wanted to resist, but out of the corner of her eye, she saw a teacher walking this way. The strength she’d just gathered drained away.

No.
I can’t cause trouble.
It will bring trouble to Noelle.
Viola stood at the corner, watching Hel corners of her lips lifting slightly.

Helen had just transferred into a new class. Being introverted and academically outstanding could easily stir jealousy and resentment, but wouldn’t normally escalate into bullying. Of course, Viola had pushed things along behind the scenes.
Heh…
Noelle brought her in through connections, pulled strings.
Then she must value this girl a lot, right?
Viola sneered. She took out her phone and snapped a photo of the three girls, forcing Helen into the restroom. Then, she found Noelle’s number and hit send.
There are only five days left until the SAT…
I absolutely can’t let Noelle take the SAT!
And I will absolutely not let Jasper tell her her real identity!
And
Noelle can never become a rich heiress in this lifetime. She’ll stay under my heel forever!
The restroom was dim and damp, filled with a suffocating stench of disinfectant mixed with mildew.
The three girls shoved Helen hard against the cold tiled wall. The dull pain in her back made her grunt. “Who are you pretending to be all high and mighty for?”
The girl in the lead snatched Helen’s backpack, yanked open the zipper, and dumped all the books and test papers onto the floor.
“So what if you’re good at studying? Every time I see that gloomy face of yours, it makes me sick!”
The other two girls rushed forward, laughing as they stomped all over the scattered books.
The clean white pages were instantly stained with dirty shoe prints. Several pages were ripped out and crumpled into balls.

Helen’s eyes burned red, say a word.
She bit her lower lip hard, her body trembling humiliation.
