Fake Heiress Reborn Drops Masks Finds Family (Noelle and Sebastian) novel Chapter 2

Noelle sat on the sofa and could not settle her nerves.

She was finally going to see Sebastian again.

"Mrs. Menzie, there's no need to be afraid. Mr. Menzie is really a good man," Gus said gently.

"I know he is."

The mere sound of his name brought a smile to her face. He truly is a good man.

In her past life, she had bought into the rumors that Sebastian was cold and cruel. She had been terrified of him at first, but once she got to know the real him, she realized he was nothing like that. He was quiet, but kind.

Back then, whenever the Kains mistreated her, Sebastian always stood up for her. But she had been too blinded by the Kains' false kindness. Instead of thanking him, she had snapped at him.

She had even stolen confidential files from his company, driving his company to ruin. Even then, Sebastian never once blamed her. Before he died, he saw to it that she would be cared for. He told her that once he was gone, he could no longer protect her.

He hoped she would be careful, go overseas with his men, and live a peaceful life.

But right after Sebastian died, Viola kidnapped her and drained her blood until she died.

Thinking about how she had wronged him, her eyes stung.

I hurt him. I owe him everything.

"Mr. Menzie."

Suddenly, the housekeeper's respectful voice rang out, followed by the sound of a wheelchair rolling across the marble floor.

Noelle looked up.

The elevator doors had opened.

He sat in a wheelchair, a thin blanket draped over his legs. His dark gray sweater hung loosely on his slender frame, giving him a cold, refined air.

His handsome face was pale. His dark eyes were unreadable and intensely intimidating.

Noelle stared at him, tears began to stream down her face!

Memories of his death in her past life crashed over her all at once. She could no longer hold back her tears.

She was weeping so violently that Gus and the other housekeepers were stunned.

Oh no!

The new Mrs. Menzie is crying because she is frightened of Mr. Menzie.

They'd finally secured a new lady of the house, and was she already planning to flee?

As Noelle stared at Sebastian, his gaze was fixed on her as well. The sight of her sobbing made his brow furrow and his expression darken. All the curiosity he'd felt vanished at once.

Duo clicked his tongue in disappointment. He'd thought Noelle might be different. Turns out she was just putting on an act. She shows her true colors already.

Primo shot Noelle a glance before looking away. Just another woman who's scared of Mr. Menzie and can't hold her own.

"Send Ms. Kain back."

With that order, Sebastian turned his wheelchair to leave.

Gus sighed. He'd hoped things would be different this time. But seeing Noelle burst into tears the moment she saw Sebastian, it was clear she had been faking it all along.

"Ms. Kain, please—"

Before Gus could finish speaking, a blur of movement passed him. Noelle had darted right in front of Sebastian's wheelchair!

Tears still streaked down her face. "No… I'm not going back!

Sebastian, please don't send me away."

She had to stay and make amends.

Sebastian glanced at the tears still wet on her cheeks. "I'm not so desperate as to force a woman. If you're unwilling, I'll send you back."

"No! I'm not unwilling!" Noelle hurried to say.

Not unwilling? Her eyes are swimming with tears.

Duo crossed his arms. Ms. Kain hadn't even bothered to rehearse her lies. She's clearly terrified of our boss, yet she's still pretending.

She… kissed him?!

She actually kissed Mr. Menzie!

Mr. Menzie had never been kissed by anyone before.

That was his first kiss!

The staff watched their boss's changing expression, silently praying for Noelle. She is as good as dead, completely done for.

Even Primo's cold expression softened into a faint curiosity.

The warmth of her lips still lingered on his. His expression remained cold as he said, "I just want to see what game this woman is playing."

Duo looked skeptical. Really?

...

Noelle took up residence in Melrose Manor.

She was given a guest room directly adjacent to Sebastian's.

"Mrs. Menzie, this will be your room. We've prepared clothes and toiletries for you. I'm Lilian. If you need anything at all, please let me know."

The housekeeper stepped back respectfully.

Noelle sank onto the bed and closed her eyes contentedly.

In her past life, she had resisted staying here, but in this life, she felt utterly at peace.

Everyone in Melrose Manor was kind. Later, when the Menzies went bankrupt, the manor was seized and the staff scattered one by one.

And Sebastian...

He'd been paralyzed by poison and had to endure the monthly agony of the poison flaring up.

In her past life, when she first moved in, she'd felt nothing for Sebastian. She hadn't even bothered to learn about his condition. She didn't find out until a year later, by which time the poison had already spread to his heart and not even she could save him.

But this time was different. She had been given a second chance.

With her medical knowledge, she could actually flush the poison from his system!

After a comforting shower, Noelle stepped out in her pajamas, only to hear commotion outside.

She opened her door and saw Duo and Primo standing outside Sebastian's room, looking frantic.

"Mr. Menzie is suffering another flare-up! This is the fifth time this month!"
