Noelle gave a small laugh. “Eight tonight. See you at the training ground.”

Elliot stood there, stunned, while she had already walked off.

Eden jabbed him with his elbow and whispered, “Are you slow or what? Mrs. Menzie is going to train you herself!”

That was when Elliot snapped back to reality, his eyes lighting up.

Noelle was going to teach him!

When the three entered Raymond’s room, he was awake, leaning against the headboard.

He looked drained. With his messy beard, he looked like a scruffy stray dog.

Victor sat beside him, feeding him congee.

“Raymond, you have no idea how close it was. Rachel couldn’t make it, and you were barely hanging on. If Mrs. Menzie hadn’t shown up, you’d be dead for sure!” Even thinking about it made Victor uneasy.

When Rachel was mentioned, Raymond’s face turned cold. “She couldn’t make it or didn’t want to?”

Victor blinked. “What do you mean?”

If she truly wanted to save him, she would’ve forced herself through even if she felt ill. There was no way it should’ve taken an hour. And when she arrived, she didn’t look sick at all.

Victor had never doubted Rachel before, but hearing that, he realized something was wrong.

That was right. She didn’t look unwell when she arrived.
