Noelle walked back inside with her water. Hearing Eleanor, she smiled, thinking the girl was pretty cute. “Sharing a dorm with you makes me the lucky one.”

Eleanor quickly pulled Quinna over to Noelle, asking a million questions about how she got such an insane SAT score. The three of them were chatting and having a great time, while Holly just sat in her chair, unable to say a word.

That night, the class held its first meeting.

Eleanor walked in the middle with her arms around Quinna and Noelle, the three of them laughing as they found their seats. Eleanor even saved a spot for Holly, but Holly refused to sit there.

The advisor was a young woman, probably fresh out of her PhD. She smiled brightly, told everyone to call her by her first name, and asked each student to go up and introduce themselves.

Holly took a deep breath and walked to the front. She put on what she thought was her most confident smile. “Hi everyone, my name is Holly Hodgson. My SAT score is 1557. I plan to run for class rep, and I hope you’ll vote for me later…”
