The soldier’s stare sent a chill down Holly’s spine. She bit her lip and didn’t dare push it anymore. She turned around and left, embarrassed.

Meanwhile, Noelle was already inside the instructors‘ building.

“Mrs. Menzie!”

All the instructors greeted her politely.

“Mrs. Menzie!”

Elliot and Eden heard that Noelle was here and rushed out, calling to her excitedly.

“You’re here to see Mr. Menzie, right? He’s over there!”

Sebastian stayed in a separate room at the very back.

Noelle walked toward his room. The door was slightly open. She turned the handle, and a delicious smell of food hit her right away.

In the open kitchen, Sebastian had his back to her. He was still wearing his IBI uniform, sleeves neatly rolled up to his elbows, showing his forearms.

Around his waist was an apron with cute cartoon prints, totally out of place here. He focused on flipping the pan.

In it were glazed BBQ ribs, glossy with sauce and steaming. On the stove next to it was a pot of creamy fish chowder and a plate of simple sautéed vegetables.

Hearing the door, Sebastian didn’t even look back. He just smiled and said in his deep voice, “Go sit on the couch and relax. It’s almost ready.”

Noelle closed the door, walked over, and leaned on the kitchen doorway, watching him with a smile. “Oh wow, Mr. Menzie, making a special meal just for me?”

Sebastian finished the ribs, turned off the stove, and finally turned around.

Under the warm light, his sharp features looked much softer. There was even a bit of sweat on his nose.

“The cafeteria food isn’t great. I didn’t want you to go hungry.”

“If others find out, aren’t you worried they’ll say you’re giving me special treatment?”

“My wife gets special treatment. That’s only fair.”

He said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. He reached out and tapped her cheek. “Go sit down.”

Noelle was guided to the small dining table. She watched him bring the food over one by one–glazed BBQ ribs, sautéed vegetables, creamy fish chowder, and two servings of spaghetti aglio e olio.

“Try it. It should be pretty good, but let me know if anything’s off so I can do better next time.”

Sebastian sat down across from her and handed her the utensils. His eyes were full of warmth.

Her eyes lit up as she looked at Sebastian. “Oh my god, honey! How are you this good at cooking?! Were you a master chef in a past life?”

Sebastian was silent for a second, totally amused by her reaction.

“As long as you like it.”

“I love it!”

Noelle looked at him with stars in her eyes. “Seriously, how did I get so lucky? My husband is hot, and he can cook? Come here, honey! Let me kiss you!”

She puckered up.

Sebastian bit his lip. His ears turned a little red, like he thought she was being childish.

But one second later….

His body betrayed him, and he leaned his cheek over anyway.

The smile in Noelle’s eyes grew wider. She gave his left cheek a loud smack.

She smacked his right cheek, too.

Still not enough!

She leaned in and planted a big kiss right on his lips.

“Well? Isn’t the food you made amazing?”

Noelle looked at him, smiling brightly.

“Yeah.it is.”

Her lips were soft and sweet..

He wanted another.

Sebastian looked at Noelle for a moment, then scooped out a tender piece of fish and put it on her plate. “Try this too.”

Noelle took a big bite and made an exaggerated sound. “So good!”

Sebastian smiled, waiting for her to kiss him again. She said it was good, so she should kiss him again, right?

Another reward?

But Noelle just kept eating, completely focused on her food, with no more kisses at all.

Sebastian’s smile slowly stiffened.
