“Bah! You’re the one getting scammed! I’m not senile yet!” Ronald snapped, practically fuming. “That girl is the real deal! You have to come tomorrow so I can introduce you. Then, you’re taking her to see Sebastian!”

“Got it, got it. So old and still so grumpy… I’m hanging up.” Lucas agreed. He was afraid that if he didn’t, the old man would get so angry he’d keel over.

He figured he’d go see if this doctor his grandpa kept bragging about was actually legit.

But he didn’t have high hopes. They’d seen many famous doctors over the years, and none of them could help Sebastian. The only person who could save him was the Miracle Healer, but she had refused to help.

The next morning.

Noelle used “going to school” as an excuse and headed to the Gallows Market alone.

“Roman! We found her! We found her! That genius doctor girl showed up again!”

At the guesthouse, Roman jumped to his feet the second he heard it. “She showed up?! Where?!”

“Our guys saw her enter the night market again. They’re following her.”

“Hurry! Take me there!”

Roman was so excited he was practically running. This time, he was going to find out for sure if Noelle was the missing girl they had been searching for.

But when he arrived, he only saw one of his men standing alone at the street corner.

“Where is she?!” Roman asked.

“Mr. Haller, I was right on her tail, but she just … vanished.” The man lowered his head, looking ashamed.

“You lost her? You?” Felix couldn’t believe it. This was their best tracker.

Ronald was waiting at the door for Noelle. When he saw her, he grinned so wide his face almost split. “Ms. Kain, you’re here! Please, come in!”

Lucas had also arrived at the market.

He parked his car by the road and walked in.

When he reached the herbal shop, he happened to see his grandpa escorting a woman inside.

The woman was facing away from him, so all he saw was her back.
