She immediately turned it around on him, her tone sharp and biting.

“You!” Benjamin’s chest heaved with anger. He was a plain, honest farmer; it was obvious he was no match for Maisy’s slick tongue.
“Exactly! Maisy would never do something like that!” Maisy’s assistant jumped in to back her up.
“Mr. Salinger, if you ask me, you really shouldn’t be filming in places like this. You know what they say–bad land breeds nasty folks. I’m just looking out for the crew. What if someone tries to scam us?”
She kept acting like she cared about the crew, but all she did was trashing Benjamin until his eyes burned red with rage.
‘You!”
‘What’s going on? What’s all the yelling?”
Benjamin’s eyes were red with anger. But before he could argue any more, an old voice called out. Samuel, had heard the commotion and limped out. Leaning heavily on his cane, he hobbled out from the house, worry written all over his face.
Seeing his father, Benjamin swallowed his anger, worried he’d upset him. He rushed to reassure him. “Dad, it’s nothing, I just… I slipped and fell, that’s all.”
When the others heard Benjamin change his story and saw Maisy looking so upset and wronged, they were left confused. They still had their doubts about her, but couldn’t press the issue.
Still, when they looked at Maisy, there was a newfound wariness and distance in their eyes.
Sensing things were back under control, Maisy immediately put on her most wounded look, her eyes red and brimming with tears is she said, “So you guys would rather believe a country boy over me? I can’t believe that’s what you all think of me.”
She turned and headed for her room, acting as if she’d just suffered the greatest injustice in the world.
‘For real? Now it’s our fault?” Jeffrey muttered, speechless.
Bruce was older, more experienced, and he could see right through Maisy’s act. He didn’t like her at all.
This girl is just way too manipulative and scheming.
But since they were filming, he kept up a friendly face.
Jeffrey was still at a loss, but when he turned and saw Noelle coming back, he immediately brightened up. “Hey! Dr. Kain! You’re
back!”
It was just easier to get along with Noelle–she wasn’t dramatic at all.
Mick frowned at how eager Jeffrey sounded.
He stepped in front of Noelle, blocking Jeffrey.
Hmph!
Why did he have to call her like they were close friends?

Bruce’s mood improved the moment he saw Noelle. He grinned. “Girl, where’d you run off to? You missed quite a show!”
“A show?”
Noelle arched a brow.
“You haven’t heard yet!” Jeffrey, as usual, couldn’t hold it in. “Dr. Mayer just saved Benjamin. He got bitten by a venomous snake, and Dr. Mayer managed to save him! His skills are insane!”
Dr. Mayer saved Benjamin?
Noelle’s brow lifted, but she didn’t say more, just replied, “Oh.”
Soon, night descended.
Feeling much better, Benjamin, made his way to the crew’s lodging to thank Steve in person.
Samuel came too, even though he had trouble walking. He’d heard about how Steve had saved Benjamin, and he was extremely grateful. If not for him, he would’ve lost his only son.
“Dr. Mayer, I really owe you my life! If you hadn’t gotten there in time, I’d be dead by now!”
Benjamin’s eyes brimmed with grateful tears as he said those words, and Samuel bowing repeatedly in gratitude.
Steve hurried to stop them. Looking at the honest, grateful father and son, and feeling everyone else’s admiring eyes on him, he finally got a chance to speak up, his tone serious. “Wait, don’t thank me yet. The person who saved you… wasn’t me.”
“What?” Benjamin and everyone else were stunned.
“It wasn’t you? Then who was it?” Jeffrey asked, baffled.
Steve turned to Benjamin. “Think carefully. Before you passed out, did you see who treated your wound?”
Benjamin frowned, trying hard to recall.
He remembered hearing someone say, “Don’t move“. It sounded like a woman. When he woke up, the first person he saw was Steve…
But before that?
His memory was blurry. He just vaguely remembered a slender figure, moving fast, but he couldn’t see her face.
