Noelle quietly moved the phone a little farther from her ear. Before she could say anything, loud voices burst out from the other end. It sounded like a whole group had gathered around Serena, talking over each other.

The people on the other end fell quiet for a moment, clearly thinking it over.

“You’re right,” someone finally said. “The quiet dog bites. Want us to investigate who’s stirring things up?”

“No need,” Noelle said. “Sebastian already has people looking into it. You all have plenty of work yourselves. Don’t get distracted. know what I’m doing. Serena, I appreciate your concern. But let me handle this one.”

There was another short silence. Finally Serena let out a reluctant sigh. “Fine, but if you need help, call us right away; If anyone dares to mess with you again, Alliance 749 will be the first to stand up!”

“I know,” Noelle said with a small smile. “Talk later.”

She hung up. At the same time, the door to the study opened.
