Angus‘ brow furrowed. “Don’t get yourself worked up. Let’s find out what’s happening before we do anything”
“Find out what?” Mary’s voice was sharp, trembling with fear and anger. “She’s my daughter! I can’t just watch her walk into disaster. I’m bringing her home, now!”
Angus got to his feet. “I’ll go with you. No matter what’s happened, they’re married. Noelle truly cares about Sebastian. We need to know the facts before we-”
“Truly cares?” Mary cut him off with a cold, bitter laugh. “Is love going to keep her safe? Is love going to save her life? Dad, you always spoil her!”
She snatched up her purse and stormed toward the door.
Angus let out a long sigh and called to his sons and grandchildren, “Come on. We need to see for ourselves.”
Meartwhile, at the Menzies‘ estate, the search had stretched through a full day and night.
Lucas‘ eyes were bloodshot, his phone glued to his ear as he coordinated the search.
He hadn’t slept in over twenty–four hours.
Primo and Duo had led teams everywhere, leaving no stone unturned, but there was still no sign.
Noelle brought a mug of water to Sebastian and offered it gently.
He didn’t reach for it.
He just sat, frozen, as if carved from stone.
“Drink a little,” Noelle murmured.
Sebastian shook his head. His voice was a low rasp. “I can’t.”
Noelle studied his face–the red–rimmed eyes, the cracked lips, the white–knuckled grip on his phone.
He hadn’t touched food or water since the night before.
“Sebastian, just a sip. Theodore wouldn’t want you torturing yourself like this,” Lucas said, his own voice ragged with exhaustion.
“We’ll find them.” Noelle set the mug beside him and squeezed his hand. “Theodore and Ethan will be all right. Alliance 749 is searching everywhere. IBI is helping too. With this many people looking, we’ll find them.”
Sebastian stayed silent.
A long moment passed before he finally spoke, voice sandpaper–rough. “Noey, I’m scared.”
Noelle’s eyes softened.
“I’m scared it’s happening all over again. Like twenty years ago.” His head dropped, voice trembling. “I’m scared to open the door

and see… see it all over again.”
He couldn’t go on.
Noelle didn’t reply. She only reached out and pulled him into her arms.
She let his head rest on her shoulder, gently running her fingers through his hair.
“Don’t be afraid.” Her voice was soft, but steady as stone. “Not this time. We’ll find them. I promise.”
Sebastian stayed there, unmoving, silent..

Are you deaf? Come with me!” Mary yanked at her, her voice rising in panic. “Look at you! You’re exhausted, you’re a wreck! Sebastian is a curse. He destroyed his own family, now he’s dragging you down too! He’s putting all of us–the Guzmans–in danger!”
Noelle pulled her hand free, fixing Mary with a cold, steady gaze.
Mary faltered for a heartbeat, but lifted her chin stubbornly. “Am I wrong? You know what the Menzies are. Twenty years ago, the whole family was wiped out. Now Theodore’s missing. Anyone close to them ends up ruined! If you stay, you’ll be next!”
Her voice rose, sharp with fear. “I warned you not to marry him, but you wouldn’t listen! Now, do you see how hard it is? Are you going to listen to me now? Come on, let’s go!
