Chapter 517 A Fragile Awakening
Two days later, she finally woke up.
When she opened her eyes, all she saw was a white ceiling.

The sharp smell of disinfectant mixed with warm sunlight from the window. It was a little harsh, but also a little comforting.
She didn’t move. She just lay there, staring at the ceiling.
Voices drifted in from outside. People were arguing.
Angus’s voice rang out, loud and furious, barely holding back his anger. “You still have the nerve to cry?! What did I tell you before? Stay away from that imposter! You wouldn’t listen! And now look? Noey almost died trying to save you!”
Then came Mary’s broken sobs. “I know I was wrong… I know… I just thought she was pitiful…”
Angus roared, “Pitiful? She’s pitiful? Did she look pitiful when she pointed a gun at you?!”
“Dad, please stop! I know I messed up.”
“Messed up? That’s not just a mistake! That’s stupidity! You were blind!”
Noelle kept staring at the ceiling.
She had been asleep these past two days, but her ears hadn’t rested.
She had heard this same argument over and over again.
Angus yelling. Mary was crying. Her uncles trying to calm things down. The cousins were sighing.
Always the same lines. Again and again.
She blinked slowly. She felt so tired.
Too tired to even speak.
Just then, the door burst open.
“Noey!!!”

Lucas’s voice exploded into the room. Fast footsteps followed as he rushed to the bed. When he saw her eyes open, he froze for a second, then let out a loud shout and threw himself forward.
“You’re awake! You’re really awake! Man, I thought you were going to sleep until next year
Serena came in right after him. For once, she didn’t complain about the noise. She walked over quickly and bent down to look at Noelle. Her eyes were a little red, but she was smiling “Noelle, you’re finally awake. If you didn’t wake up soon, this guy was going to drive me crazy. Every day it’s Why isn’t Nocy awake yet?’ ‘Is Noey okay?-my ears were about to fall off
Noelle looked at them. Her lips moved slightly, but she didn’t speak.
Outside, the argument was still going.
Angus’s voice got even louder. “You brat!”
Noelle frowned a little and finally spoke. Her voice was hoarse. “Tell them to
Lucas tilted his head, listening, then made a face. “They’re so loud even the walls can’t block it.
“I want quiet,” Noelle said. “And I don’t want to see anyone right now,”
Serena didn’t hesitate. She turned and walked straight out.
She pulled the door open, leaned out, and shouted at the top of her lungs.
“What are you all yelling for?! She just woke up and you’re out here like it’s a concert?! Shut it! All of you! One more word and I’m kicking you all out!”
Silence.
Dead silence.
Three seconds later, Angus’s voice came back, much weaker this time. “Hmm, Noey’s awake?”
“She’s awake,” Serena snapped. “But she doesn’t want to see anyone right now. Go do something else and stop bothering her.”
There was some shuffling outside. Then everything went quiet.
Serena closed the door, satisfied, and walked back to the bed. She raised an eyebrow at Noelle. “Done.”
A faint smile touched Noelle’s lips.

Lucas had already brought over a cup of warm water. He carefully held the straw to her lips. “Take a sip. Help your throat.”
Noelle drank a little.
Lucas asked, “Hungry? Want something to eat? I can get someone to grab it. Grits? Pasta? Or that ravioli place you like?”
Noelle shook her head. “No.”
Lucas frowned, about to say something, then suddenly brightened.
“Oh! Right, right! I’ve got good news!” He slapped his thigh. “We’ve got a lead on Sebastian!”
Noelle’s eyes lit up instantly.
She turned to look at Lucas. For the first time, there was real emotion in her usually calm gaze.
“Talk.”
Lucas felt the pressure immediately and hurried on.
“We’ve narrowed it down to a few areas near Varindon. That group’s ship was last seen around there. But-”
He paused, his expression turning serious. “That area is complicated. Dangerous too. Pirates, reefs, and it’s within their territory. If we go in blind, something could go wrong.”
Noelle listened without changing her expression.
“Look into it,” she said.
Lucas and Serena exchanged a look.
“No matter how hard it is,” Noelle said quietly, but with firm resolve, “I’m going. Keep digging. Find out everything.”
Lucas flicked her forehead lightly. “Go where? You’re staying right here and healing first. Sebastian isn’t just your husband. He’s
my
brother too.”
He grinned, teasing her. “Look at you. You think you can go see him like this? Noey, are you trying to get me in trouble? You want him to see I didn’t take care of you and come beat me up?”
That got a small smile out of her.
