Chapter 522 A Body on the Sea
Chapter 522 A Body on the Sea
He stressed the words “certain people,” and while he spoke, he shot a sideways glance at Jasper.
Along the way, Noelle had clearly taken better care of Lucas.
She handed him water, gave him medicine, and sometimes even passed him a blanket:
As for Jasper, she was polite–but distant. Most of what he got was a simple “Mm,” “Okay,” or “Got it.”
Lucas loved it.
Every time he felt sick, he used that to annoy Jasper, like a kid showing off a brand–new toy.
Jasper didn’t even lift his eyelids. He just looked away, staring at the ocean ahead as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
“Hey, I’m talking to-” Lucas was ready to gloat some more.
“Ugh-!”
Lucas suddenly covered his mouth and leaned over the rail again.
This time, it wasn’t seasickness.
His eyes went wide. He stared hard at something drifting on the waves.

“N–Noey…” His voice shook, like he’d just seen a ghost. “Did I throw up so much that I’m seeing things? Why does it look like… there’s a person in the water?”
Jasper let out a cold laugh without opening his eyes. “Then it’s just your imagination. We’re close to that nameless island. No way there’d be anyone out here-”
“That’s a person!”
Noelle’s voice cut him off, sharp and firm.
Jasper’s eyes snapped open. He followed her gaze.
Out on the water, a dark shape rose and fell with the waves. It was hard to see clearly, but the outline looked like a human body.
‘Holy-!” Lucas jumped to his feet. All his weakness vanished. “It’s really a person! Hurry, pull him in before the waves take him!”
Jasper had already rushed to the side of the ship. He grabbed a long pole with a hook.
The ship rocked hard. The figure drifted closer, then farther away, like a leaf struggling on the water.
Lucas stood nearby, shouting directions. “Left! A little more left! Yeah–got it! Hook his clothes! Don’t lose him!”
Jasper pulled hard. The hook caught the collar, and he slowly dragged the person closer.
Just as they were about to reach the edge, a wave crashed against the boat. The deck lurched violently.
Jasper’s foot slipped. He lost his balance and pitched straight toward the ocean.

Just as he thought he was about to fall in, someone grabbed the back of his collar!
“Get back up here!”
Lucas grabbed the back of Jasper’s collar and yanked hard, pulling him away from the edge of the boat.
The two of them crashed onto the deck and rolled together.
Jasper landed right on top of Lucas. Lucas’s head hit the deck with a thud, and he winced, baring his teeth in pain.

“Ugh–can you lose some weight already?” Lucas groaned, rubbing the back of his head. “I shouldn’t have bothered saving you.”
Jasper froze for a moment. He looked down at the guy he’d been arguing with just seconds ago. His expression turned conflicted.
But in the end, he said nothing. He got up and went back to pulling the person in.
Lucas climbed to his feet, brushed himself off, and hurried over to help.
Working together, they finally dragged the person onto the boat. It was a little boy.
Around ten years old. He was wearing fine clothes. Even soaked and wrinkled, they still looked expensive. The stitching was neat, with subtle patterns–clearly not something from an ordinary family.
But now, his lips were dark purple. His face was pale as paper. His clothes were torn, and no one could tell how long he had been drifting at sea.
Lucas crouched down and checked his breathing.
“He’s still alive! Barely!” He looked up. “Noey, hurry!”
Noelle was already kneeling beside them. She opened her medical kit and took out a set of needles.
Her movements were quick and steady. Disinfect. Insert. Twist. Each step flowed smoothly into the next. Even on the rocking deck, her hands were as steady as if she were on solid ground.
After a few needles, the boy’s chest moved slightly.
Lucas’s eyes lit up. “He’s alive!”
Noelle didn’t respond. She kept going.
A few minutes later, the boy suddenly coughed and spat out a mouthful of seawater.
