Chapter 53 Five Hours Too Long
Sebastian had been gone for a full five hours.
After three hours with no word, Noelle started to worry. She kept thinking about how rushed and tense he looked when he left.
“Noelle!” Serena suddenly called her on video. On the screen, Serena was dressed in a black leather jacket and pants, bold and striking as ever. “You asked me to look into Sebastian, right? I found something. He did something huge today.
“Huh?” Noelle straightened at once. “What did he do?”
Serena narrowed her eyes at her. “Wait a second. Since when do you care this much about Sebastian?”
Noelle rubbed her nose. Before she could answer, Serena kept going. “I’m actually proud of you,” Serena said with a grin. “You’re finally paying attention to what’s going on inside Alliance 749. You know, if Sebastian dies, all his organizations fall apart. That would make Alliance 749 the top private group, right?”
Noelle had no words.
Serena’s imagination really had no limits.
Getting back to the point, Serena said, “He got hurt today, and it’s pretty bad. He got into a serious fight with a group of people. They’re tough. I still can’t trace who they are. From what I heard, the fight started because of a woman.”
She clicked her tongue. “Figures. Trouble always follows a pretty face. No matter how strong a man is, he can’t escape that. Even Sebastian, wheelchair or not.”
Noelle didn’t hear that last part.
She only heard one thing.
Sebastian was injured!
“Where was he hurt?” Noelle asked sharply. “Is it serious?!”
Serena glanced at her again, clearly puzzled. “Yeah, it’s serious. The other side had guns. He was shot. Honestly? He might not make it.”
Noelle’s hand shook as she gripped her phone.

Free Chink
Out in the suburbs, Sebastian sat in a wheelchair, covered in blood.
“Sebastian!”
Lucas’s hands were trembling.
He pressed hard on the wound, trying to stop the bleeding. He wanted to remove the bullet.
But it was buried too deep.
Way too deep.
And it was too close to the heart. Lucas couldn’t guarantee he could get the bullet out without killing him.
“Why were you so stupid?” Lucas snapped, his eyes red. “Why did you block the bullet? If that man died, so what? He deserved it!”
“I owed him,” Sebastian said faintly.
“You don’t owe anyone!” Lucas shot back.
“Mr. Lucas, please save our boss!” Primo and Duo begged, panicking at the side.
Lucas clenched his teeth. He wanted to save him more than anyone. But he didn’t have full confidence.
Suddenly, a name flashed through his mind.
Dr. Kain!
Her medical skills were unbelievable. She could pull people back from the edge of death. If anyone could save Sebastian, it was her.
“We’ll find Dr. Kain!” Lucas said at once.
“Sebastian, I’ll stop the bleeding for now. Then, we’ll go to Dr. Kain. She can save you!”
“Quick! Contact Dr. Kain!”
Sebastian sat quietly in his wheelchair. Compared to the chaos around him, he looked calm. He wasn’t afraid of death. To him, death sometimes felt like rest.

He carried too much, and there were moments when he felt truly exhausted.
But then. Noelle’s face appeared in his mind.
That little girl lived a hard life too. If something happened to him, what would she do? Wouldn’t she be bullied again by the Kains?
He opened his mouth, his voice hoarse. “Take me back to Melrose Manor
Melrose Manor.
Noelle sat in front of her laptop inside a room.
Her fingers were flying across the keyboard so fast they blurred.
Lines of code flashed across the screen. Then they stopped. A red dot blinked.
Noelle narrowed her eyes.
Found you.
She was about to get over there when she noticed something else. The red dot was getting closer.
That meant-
Noelle’s tense brow relaxed. Sebastian and the others were heading back to the manor.
They are coming home.
