Fake Heiress Reborn Drops Masks Finds Family (Noelle and Sebastian) novel Chapter 556

Lucas and Jasper exchanged a look, both frowning. Noelle studied the man with a slight crease between her brows.

Christine, the head of the most powerful family among the Four Great Families, suddenly wanted a newly admitted Medicine Department recruit to perform needle therapy for her?

She'd definitely made a name for herself. Mark personally backing her and the story about her saving someone with three needles had already spread through the entire Nightfall Circle, but that kind of fame shouldn't have been enough to reach Christine.

She thought back to that strange look she'd given her earlier. What exactly is she after?

"Ms. Kain?" Seeing her stay silent, the man asked again.

Jasper stepped forward and positioned himself in front of Noelle, his tone calm. "Ms. Kain just joined the Nightfall Circle. She still has a lot of rules and procedures to learn. I'm afraid she doesn't have time to visit the Duncans."

Lucas immediately backed him up. "Yeah, exactly. We've got training starting tomorrow, and it lasts seven straight days. Can't miss even one. How about you come back after that?"

The man smiled, about to reply, when another voice cut in from the side. "Since when do the Duncans come to the Nightfall Circle to poach people?"

Everyone turned. A woman around 40 walked over wearing a dark-blue combat uniform with a short blade strapped to her waist. Her hair was tied into a clean ponytail.

"Ms. Webster." The man gave a small nod, his tone noticeably more polite.

Celia Webster stopped in front of Noelle and looked her up and down before turning toward the man. Her voice wasn't loud, but it carried weight. "These recruits just entered the Nightfall Circle. They still have a lot to learn. During training, no one is allowed to leave. Those are the rules."

The man smiled again and pulled a gold-trimmed invitation from his sleeve, offering it respectfully with both hands. "This is an invitation from Ms. Christine. She said that if Ms. Kain has time, she's welcome to visit the Duncans anytime. Training comes first. Waiting until after it's over is perfectly fine."

He paused, then looked at Noelle again. "Ms. Christine is very sincere."

He placed the invitation into Noelle's hand and turned to leave.

Shirley stood frozen nearby with a priceless expression on her face.

She'd thought Christine sent someone for her. Turns out they came for Noelle instead.

That humiliation hit her hard.

Her mouth opened slightly like she wanted to say something, but no words came out. In the end, she stomped her foot and stormed off.

Celia watched the man walk away before withdrawing her gaze and looking at Noelle. "Sometimes standing out too much isn't a good thing."

Noelle understood exactly what she meant.

A newcomer dominating the entrance exams, personally supported by Mark, then specifically invited by Christine.

Mark got so excited that his grin nearly split his face. He was about to start teaching her on the spot when the department head, that chubby, smiling man, stopped him.

Special treatment during training wasn't allowed. Rules were rules.

Mark had no choice but to give up, muttering complaints all the way out. "Rules, rules, everything's about rules. So annoying."

The seven days passed quickly.

On the final day after training ended, Celia stood atop the platform and addressed the 50 recruits. "Starting today, you are officially members of the Nightfall Circle. Each department will assign you specific duties and responsibilities. Remember the rules of the Nightfall Circle: loyalty, courage, and integrity. Anyone who breaks those rules will be punished severely, no matter whose people they are."

After finishing, she left without hesitation.

Everyone was just about to disperse when another figure appeared.

Still the same Duncan representative. Still the same perfectly measured smile. Still the same calm voice. "Ms. Kain, training has ended. Ms. Christine is still waiting for you."

Lucas's expression darkened. He leaned close to Noelle and lowered his voice. "Noey, what's with these Duncans? They came seven days ago, and now they're back again. That's way too persistent. Something feels off."

Jasper frowned too. "With Shirley acting like that, how much better can her aunt really be? Ms. Christine suddenly wanting you there... Who knows what she's planning? What if you go there thinking you're treating her, and they end up turning on you instead?"
