Fake Heiress Reborn Drops Masks Finds Family (Noelle and Sebastian) novel Chapter 564

Noelle's expression didn't change. She looked at her coldly. "Christine, you really think this can keep me here?"

Christine's smile widened. She clapped her hands, and several black-clad guards immediately appeared, blocking the doorway completely.

"You're Noelle, the second daughter of the Guzmans from Kingstowne. You traveled thousands of miles looking for your husband after running away from an arranged marriage. What a touching love story." Christine slowly adjusted her sleeve, mockery dripping from her voice. "I'm sure your husband, Sebastian, would be deeply moved if he knew."

The moment she heard Sebastian's name again, Noelle's pupils shrank sharply, her whole body going rigid.

Christine knew Sebastian.

She actually knew him.

Christine watched her reaction with satisfaction, a cruel smile curling across her lips. "What's wrong? Can't handle hearing his name? Want to see him? Then drink this."

She poured a cup of coffee from the table and held it out to Noelle.

Noelle stared at the coffee so hard that her nails nearly dug into her palms.

"You know where he is?"

"Of course, I do." Christine smiled. "Drink it. Finish it, and I'll tell you."

The air felt heavy enough to suffocate her.

Noelle looked at the cup in front of her.

There was something in it.

She knew that.

But if she refused to drink it, how could she get any information about Sebastian?

Maybe she was acting irrationally, but this was the first real lead she'd had since Sebastian disappeared.

She had to drink it.

A few seconds of dead silence passed.

Finally, Noelle reached out and took the cup.

Just as her fingertips were about to touch the rim...

"Ms. Duncan! Something terrible happened! The Pattons sent word that Mr. Floyd is critically ill! He's barely hanging on!"

Gavin stumbled into the room, panic filling his voice.

Christine's face instantly changed, obvious panic flashing across it.

Floyd was the man she loved most. How could something suddenly happen to him?

The moment she heard Floyd was in danger, Christine no longer cared about Noelle.

She shot Noelle a vicious glare and gritted out, "Consider yourself lucky."

Then she turned to the guards at the door and barked, "Throw her into the dungeon. Watch her closely. Don't let anything go wrong. I'll be back soon."

"Yes, Ms. Duncan!"

Christine wasted no more time and stormed out. Before leaving, she turned back toward Noelle one last time. "Noelle, if you still want to see Sebastian, stay put, and don't even think about running."

The heavy wooden door slammed shut, cutting off the light outside along with the last shred of Noelle's hope.

She collapsed weakly into the chair, still holding the poisoned drink in her hand.

That scent...

It smells exactly like Sebastian.

Could it be him?

But that's impossible...

Why would Sebastian be here?

But the scent, the warmth of his arms... Why does it all feel so painfully familiar, familiar enough to make my soul tremble?

Noelle could've fought free, but the man's scent was too familiar. Before she realized it, she had stopped struggling.

She tried desperately to see his face, but all she could make out was a dark silhouette and a pair of striking eyes glowing in the night.

The man carried her deep into a secluded patch of woods before finally stopping, though he still didn't let go of her.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

His low voice carried restrained anger as it sounded beside her ear.

"You knew the drink was poisoned, and you still reached for it?"

Noelle's entire body stiffened.

That voice...

She jerked her head up and met a pair of deep eyes dark as icy water. He's...

A wave of crushing disappointment and anger surged through her. Noelle violently shoved away the hand clutching her sleeve and staggered back a step, forcing distance between them.

"What does that have to do with you?"

Her voice was cold as ice, a mocking smile tugging at her lips. "Who are you? What gives you the right to interfere?"

The man stood there watching her, tall and straight as a pine tree, his voice completely emotionless. "You don't need to know who I am. This is the nameless island. Outsiders aren't welcome here. I'll arrange a boat and send you all away tomorrow."
