Chapter 77 They Come
Colin’s voice trembled.
Daniel looked completely confused, with no idea what was happening.
It was just arresting a so–called holistic quack. Why was Colin so worked up?

Backup showed up fast. When Daniel saw who it was, his heart jumped. It was the deputy chief. Pablo Wood rushed in as if he were being chased.
“Deputy Chief Wood!” Daniel hurried to greet him.
“Is everything okay?!”
Pablo grabbed him and fired off questions nonstop.
Daniel thought the concern was about him. “Don’t worry. We’re fine. Just a few troublemakers. They can’t hurt us-”
“Who said I was worried about you?!”
Pablo shoved him away.
He rushed into the room, scanning everything in panic, and only relaxed when he saw Noelle. She was covered with a veil, sitting by the bed while placing needles into Madeline.
Good. She’s fine. Even her hair is still neat.
Thank goodness!
If anything had happened to her, none of them would be walking out alive.
“Ms. Kain.” Pablo hurried over, rubbing his hands nervously. “I deeply apologize. My people didn’t recognize you. Mr. Menzie is already on his way-”
“Quiet.”
Noelle was focused on the needles and already annoyed by the noise. Pablo clamped his mouth shut and didn’t dare speak again.
Daniel stared in shock at how respectfully Pablo treated Noelle.
Why’s Deputy Chief Wood acting so carefully around her?
Does she have some identity I don’t know about?
Eliana had been waiting for Noelle to be dragged away. Instead, Pablo showed up and treated Noelle with extreme courtesy. Panic set in.
“Officer, why aren’t you arresting her?! Hurry up! She killed my niece! They’re still sticking needles in her even after she died! Arrest her and throw her in jail!”
“Arrest her? I’d like to see who dares!”

Bang!
The door flew open, and Lucas walked in.
Beside him was Sebastian in a wheelchair, pushed by a subordinate.
Behind them, black–suited bodyguards filled the doorway.
The two arrived almost at the same time. Even seated, Sebastian’s presence was crushing.
His face was icy cold, and one glance felt like falling into frozen water. Lucas, meanwhile, wore a smile. His eyes curved pleasantly, handsome and charming. But there wasn’t a trace of warmth in his gaze–only a chilling coldness.
“Lu–Lucas!”
Anthony recognized Lucas instantly.
His face changed dramatically.
He didn’t recognize Sebastian, but he definitely knew Lucas.
Lucas was the son of the Steeles–one of the Four Great Families. The Jensens influenced Kingstowne, but they were nothing compared to them.
Seeing Sebastian and Lucas arrive, Primo and Duo immediately relaxed. With those two here, there was nothing to worry about.
Lucas and Sebastian went straight to Noelle. Sebastian carefully checked her first and only relaxed once he confirmed she was
unharmed.
He’d been in an urgent meeting when Primo called, and he rushed over right away with Lucas.
Lucas drove. He ran red lights the whole way, speeding through the city at around 125 mph. What should’ve taken 30 minutes took only ten.
Lucas understood medicine. He could tell Madeline had no breath left. By normal standards, she was dead.
Noelle’s needle treatment shouldn’t have worked.
If it were anyone else, he would’ve thought it pointless. But since it was Noelle, he trusted her.
“Need anything?” Lucas asked.
“Clear the room,” Noelle replied without looking up, still working the needles.
