Fake Heiress True Luna (Irina) novel Chapter 95

Chapter 18: First Fight

Aiden’s POV

The moment the challenge began, Ethan lunged at me. He wanted to catch me off guard, but he forgot something.

We have fought since we were kids, so I know every attack he can make.

I sidestepped easily.

Ethan stumbled past me with a curse. “Stand still and let me punch you!”

I raised an eyebrow. “Why would I do that?”

“Because I asked nicely! Besides, it is no fun if I don’t hit you at least once.”

I snorted and blocked his next punch with one hand, pushing him back with a light shove.

He slid across the ground.

Wolves howled with laughter.

Ethan sprang back to his feet. “You are holding back.”

“Of course I am, your Luna asked me to leave you in one piece,” I stated.

He rolled his eyes. “I’m not made of porcelain, the Luna shouldn’t worry.”

He darted in again-fast, faster than most Betas. His fist connected with my ribs.

A decent hit.

I grunted, more out of surprise than pain. “You’ve improved.”

Ethan smirked. “Maybe today’s the day I beat you. You haven’t trained as much as you did

before.”

“Keep dreaming.”

He swung again, and I ducked, sweeping his legs. He yelped and hit the ground but rolled immediately to avoid my kick.

“Alpha!” he shouted dramatically, scrambling up. “Stop trying to kill me!”

“I haven’t even warmed up.”

Chapter 18 First Light

“That’s what scares me!”

The crowd roared with laughter.

Debbie groaned from the benches, “Stop embarrassing me!”

Ethan turned his head to shout back, “I’m TRYING, DEB-”

I caught him mid-sentence and slammed him to the ground.

The air whooshed out of him.

He wheezed. “Dirty… move…

“You turned your back on your opponent,” I reminded him. “Rookie mistake.”

He flipped himself up again-stubborn as always-and wiped the sweat from his forehead

Then he smirked at me and cracked his neck. “Enough with the warm-up. Why don’t we fight for real this time?”

I smirked back. “Gladly, my friend,” and with that, I turned into my wolf, and the battle began.

Ethan was on the ground.

Flat.

Sprawled like a starfish.

Eyes closed.

Face turned to one side.

Unconscious.

Silent.

Every wolf stood frozen, staring at the Beta who had gone from smug to sleeping on the floor

in less than two moves.

Even the trees seemed quieter.

We waited.

Ten seconds.

Fifteen.

Thirty.

Finally, one of the senior warriors-Reed-stepped forward, clearing his throat.

“Alpha Aiden…” he announced loudly, “has won.”

A wave of shocked silence swept through the crowd.

Then-

“WHAT THE HELL-‘

“DAMN!”

“I BLINKED, AND THE BETA WAS ON THE GROUND!”

“So, he was really holding back during the training sessions…”

“Someone get that man a healer-”

A few wolves howled victoriously.

Others cussed with admiration.

All I cared about was my mate, who kept staring at me, smiling and shaking her head.

Once the cheers hushed, I addressed my pack. “Thank you for attending. My Beta Ethan wanted to try his luck, as I’m sure many of you who put your name on the list.”

I saw a few warriors gulp, while others diverted their gazes.

“Should we tell them they can’t withdraw?” Arlo said with a mischievous grin.

I almost chuckled. He wanted to see them squirm, but I didn’t want to waste my time with stupid challenges that would end before they even started.

“Since I’m aware most didn’t know the extent of my training, you can approach my Beta, once he wakes up,” I teased. “And tell him to remove your name. Nobody will know you have forfeited. I just want to avoid unnecessary injuries.”

Some sighed in relief. I can already tell the list will be significantly lower by tomorrow.

If it even exists.

I walked over to Ethan’s limp form and nudged him lightly with

my

foot.

He groaned.

Barely.

“Good fight,” I said.

He didn’t answer.

I turned to the pack. “You can all rest. Remember that tomorrow is the second day of the Harvest Moon, and we will have a collective hunt.”

The moment the words left my mouth, wolves began muttering excitedly-some rubbing sore muscles, others already planning which animals they were going to chase, a few pretending they weren’t terrified after what they’d just witnessed.

I ignored all of them.

My eyes went straight to my mate.

Irina was still sitting beside Debbie, my coat wrapped around her shoulders, those golden curls tumbling over the fabric. Her elbows rested loosely on her knees, lips curved into the softest, most amused smile.

She looked like she was trying not to laugh.

I walked toward her, Arlo practically wagging his tail. My wolf loved it when she looked proud of us.

Debbie elbowed her as I approached. “Your mate just KO’d my cousin into the afterlife. Aren’t you going to scold him?”

Irina shrugged, still smiling. “I asked him to keep Ethan in one piece. And technically… he is still in one piece.”

Debbie rolled her eyes. “Well, Ethan is to blame at the moment. Anyhow…” She lifted her hand and stretched. “I’m gonna find my mate and Alpha.”

I glanced at Irina. “Kael and Derek?”

“I’ll explain later,” Irina murmured, giving me that small, tight smile that told me something was on her mind, but I should wait until she told me.

Debbie and Irina exchanged a glance before she left. Now, I’m even more curious to know what the hell happened.

When Debbie was far enough, I turned back to my mate.

“Are

you going to tell me now?” I questioned, because for some reason, I have a bad feeling

about it.

Chapter 15 First Fight

“Theia is worried,” She replied, making me quirk an eyebrow. “She says there is something wrong with the forest.”

“Rogues?” I asked, but she shook her head. “Then wha-”

“Why don’t we have a little walk?” She suggested, standing up and grabbing my hand to lead me to the tree line.

I didn’t question her. Theia’s connection to the earth gave her an advantage that few wolves

had.
