Tyler had been trying to talk to her for days.
But whether he went through Theodore or tried to find her himself, he couldn't get anywhere near her.
Just a moment ago, he’d finally managed to have a staff member pull Cindy away so he could wait here for Emilia to come out.
He reached out, intending to take her hand, but she immediately recoiled.
“Don’t touch me!” Emilia’s body trembled uncontrollably as she flung his hand away.
She quickly pulled out her phone and pressed a button.
In an instant, the bodyguard Theodore had assigned to her appeared.
The bodyguard stepped between Emilia and Tyler, grabbing Tyler and restraining him as he tried to approach again.
Tyler stared at the bodyguard in disbelief, then back at Emilia.
“Emilia, I just want to talk to you,” Tyler said. But she was being so defensive, calling for backup the moment she saw him.
Emilia, however, wouldn’t even look at him. She didn’t want to say a single word to him.
She had only just started to feel a little better these past few days.
She didn’t want to remember what happened that day, and she didn’t want to see him.
Emilia turned to leave, but before she could take a step, she found the exit blocked by people who had just arrived.
They were clearly Tyler’s men.
He let out a self-deprecating laugh. “What? It’s okay for Theodore to use his people to keep me from seeing you, but I can’t bring my own?”
Emilia stood behind her female bodyguard.
Her body trembled slightly as the events in the apartment flashed before her eyes once more.
“Tyler, what are you trying to do?” Her teeth chattered, and her voice carried a faint tremor. “If you dare try to force me again, I’ll…”
“You’ll what?” Tyler’s eyes were bloodshot. “Emilia, I know. You’ve been at Glenn Manor all this time, sleeping in the same room as him.”
Emilia’s chest heaved, her heart pounding like a drum as she stared at Tyler.
Seeing the wariness and the hint of hatred in her eyes, a pang of sadness hit Tyler.
Finally, he softened his tone. “Don’t worry, I won’t force you again. I just… I want to talk.”
Ever since he’d been released from jail, a dark thought had been growing inside him.
Eventually, it had turned into a constant, murmuring whisper in his ear.
*You can’t live without her.*
Even with someone protecting her now, that familiar feeling of helplessness washed over her again, threatening to drive her mad.
“Emilia…” Tyler frowned slightly, about to say more.
He didn’t understand. He hadn’t done anything, so why was her reaction so extreme?
She had seemed perfectly fine during her rehearsal just a little while ago.
“Get out of my way!” Emilia screamed.
The bodyguard watched the surrounding men warily, calculating her odds and discreetly pressing a button in her pocket to call for backup.
Theodore had assigned more than just one person to Emilia; the others stayed at a distance to avoid overwhelming her, while this one stayed close.
“Emilia…” Tyler tried again.
But Emilia was already on the verge of breaking down.
“Ah!”
She let out a piercing scream.
The bodyguard immediately took her hand to steady her.
“Emilia, what’s wrong?” Tyler was frantic. He pushed himself up from his wheelchair and tried to go to her to see what was happening.
