Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 544

Felix looked at Tyler, who was already trying to open the safe, and gave a derisive smile.

“Don’t try to force it open,” Felix said. “The safe has an anti-tamper self-destruct mechanism. If you do that, you won’t have time to get what’s inside.”

What was inside wasn’t the original document.

He had been under intense surveillance. He’d been heavily interrogated back in Solmaris, and even though Theodore's people had gotten him out, there was still a chance his luggage would be searched upon returning to the country.

So he had brought back copies, placed in this special safe.

The safe was custom-made to pass through Solmaris security.

If the button on the side was pressed, or if it was opened improperly, a machine inside would shred the papers within a second, and in a way that they could never be pieced back together.

The shredder would activate the instant the safe was violently damaged, and since it was a reinforced safe, breaking it would take time, leaving no chance for a rescue.

He had to try the code manually.

“Eight digits,” Felix said to the red-eyed Tyler. “Theoretically, you’ll have to try up to a hundred million times. All manually, no brute force.”

“So…”

Felix slammed Tyler against the car.

“Tyler, you’d better think long and hard.”

“Think about everything, one by one. Think about what you have done!”

Tyler clutched the safe, his red eyes fixed on Felix.

He wanted to say something, but when he opened his mouth, no sound came out.

In the end, he could only clench his jaw and meet Felix’s mocking, disdainful gaze.

The two faced off in a silent standoff. Israel, standing to the side, looked from one to the other, anxious but helpless.

Just then.

Screech—

A sharp braking sound shattered the tension.

Everyone present turned to look.

On the way, Theodore had told Emilia what Felix had told him.

“Although I don’t know what specific proof Felix has, he seems certain about it,” Theodore had said.

Now, watching Felix hurry toward her, Emilia smiled faintly and said, “Felix, my concert is about to start. I saved you a seat. Come on, let’s go back and watch it together.”

Felix was still planning to go and expose Vivienne first.

But Emilia shook her head.

“I’ll handle this,” she said. “You’ve already done more than enough for me.”

Earlier in the car, Theodore had called his contacts in Solmaris on speakerphone, and she had heard everything clearly.

She knew Felix had broken into a facility, gotten injured, and had been detained and intensely interrogated in Solmaris.

She didn’t know what exactly Felix had obtained in Solmaris.

At this point, they might still be able to resolve things privately. But if Felix released the information directly, especially during Vivienne’s livestream, there would be no turning back. Wouldn't the authorities in Solmaris be able to issue an international arrest warrant?
