Emilia lowered her gaze to Tyler, who was before her.
He knelt there, his once-proud head bowed low.
He kept his head down, not saying a word.
Theodore, watching from the side, frowned deeply.
He pursed his lips, glanced at Emilia, and then turned to walk to a corner of the room. From there, he could keep an eye on them to prevent any incidents while also giving them space to talk.
He sat down and pretended to examine the various coffees displayed on the shelves, acting as if he hadn't seen a thing.
Meanwhile, Tyler heard Theodore's footsteps recede and clenched his fists.
"Please," he said.
"Forgive me, won't you?" His voice was choked with emotion.
He looked up at Emilia, appearing humble and vulnerable.
His eyes held a sorrow she had never seen before, and his voice was filled with pleading.
The trees in the courtyard swayed gently in the wind, and the sunlight cast their flickering shadows over the two of them.
"Emilia..." he called her name, his eyes rimmed with red.
"What happened back then was my fault."
He said sorrowfully, "That day... I didn't know I... our child..."
He couldn't continue.
His eyes grew redder, and Tyler shut them in agony.
"It was my fault. And I never even went to see you afterward." He reached out and took her hand.
Tyler opened his eyes again and said softly, "Give me another chance. Let me make up for everything, okay?"
Emilia's gaze shifted from Tyler to the coffee on the nearby table.
"It's too late," she said quietly.
She could never pretend the past hadn't happened.
