Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 611

By the time he realized she was tumbling backward, it was too late.

All he saw was his own outstretched hand, suspended uselessly in the air.

He had pushed her.

Vivienne was right.

He had done this.

He was the one who had killed their unborn child with his own two hands. He had nearly destroyed her.

"Heh..."

Tyler laughed, hot tears streaming down his face as the bitter sound escaped his lips.

His laughter swelled, echoing relentlessly through the empty stairwell.

In that moment, he looked entirely broken, stripped of all his formidable armor.

He laughed so hard that dizziness overwhelmed him, a volatile mix of his throbbing leg and days without sleep or food.

Suddenly, his vision went completely black.

The world spun violently on its axis.

Tyler was already hovering dangerously close to the edge of the stairs. Losing his footing, he pitched forward and plummeted down the steps.

"Mr. Erickson!" His assistant, who had been trailing closely behind, lunged forward in a desperate attempt to grab him.

But just like the day Emilia had tumbled down those very stairs...

The assistant grasped nothing but air.

Tyler violently rolled down the jagged concrete steps.

He tumbled down an entire flight, crashing past the mid-landing and continuing his brutal descent until his back finally slammed into the wall, forcing him to a jarring halt.

"Mr. Erickson!" the assistant screamed in sheer panic, the sheer volume of his voice triggering the stairwell's motion-sensor lights.

Tyler stared blankly at a single spot on the ceiling, feeling the agonizing throb radiating from every inch of his battered body.

A bitter, hollow smile touched his lips.

So, this was how much it hurt.

It felt as though every single bone in his body had been shattered.

What about her, then?

Had she felt this exact same, suffocating agony back then?

Maybe not.

She had just been in a devastating car crash.

And...

She had been carrying their child.

Tyler laughed and cried, looking every bit like a lunatic who had lost his mind.

By the time his hollow laughter faded, he coughed up a sickening amount of blood and completely lost consciousness.

Emilia looked up at him in surprise. "Where are we going?"

"Just follow me. You'll see," he replied, a gentle smile curving his lips.

She nodded, excused herself from the group, and followed Theodore out the door.

They took a golf cart down to the edge of the sprawling lake.

"Come here," Theodore murmured, holding out his large, welcoming hand.

Emilia smiled, placing her palm softly into his.

His grip was warm and reassuring.

"This way," Theodore guided her carefully. "Watch your step."

Stepping cautiously, she followed him onto a small, elegant boat waiting by the dock.

Once they were settled, the engine hummed to life, and they glided smoothly toward the center of the lake.

A gentle evening breeze swept across the water, ruffling her hair.

Emilia looked around with curious eyes, wondering where on earth he was taking her.

The setting sun painted the horizon in brilliant streaks of orange and pink, a breathtaking backdrop for their quiet boat ride.

About ten minutes later, they arrived at a large wooden platform floating right in the heart of the lake.

And then, Emilia saw it.
