Emilia's nerves settled slightly, and she nodded. "Xenia."
She looked at the woman, unsure of the true purpose of her sudden visit.
Judging by her tone, Xenia had come specifically for her.
Emilia gestured toward the living room, inviting her in.
But Xenia shook her head. "Are you free right now? Come with me for a bit."
They were standing alone in the foyer.
While Emilia was trying to process the request, Xenia offered a gentle smile. "Don't be nervous. I'm very supportive of you and Theodore."
It was a clear declaration of her stance.
She was telling Emilia not to worry about any classic 'wicked mother-in-law' tropes.
Emilia felt a flush of embarrassment.
"We really should have come to visit you first," she said softly.
"You've both been dealing with a lot lately. Don't sweat the small stuff, we're family now," Xenia chuckled. "Come get a facial with me. There's a great spa nearby."
Emilia was entirely caught off guard by the sudden pivot to a spa day.
But this was the second time Xenia had asked her to go out.
She was Theodore's mother, and it was her first time visiting.
Plus, Wilma had already confirmed her identity.
Pushing her doubts aside, Emilia nodded. "I'd love to. Let me just grab my purse."
Xenia smiled approvingly.
As Emilia ran upstairs to get her bag, she quickly shot a text to Theodore.
[Your mom is here. She asked me to go get a facial with her. When are you coming back?]
A minute later, Theodore replied.
[Don't worry, my mom adores you. I'll be back as soon as I can.]
