The people nearby turned their heads and nodded in agreement.
Tyler hadn't shown up.
Nor had he sent any gesture of goodwill.
This seemed to be his way of communicating his stance to the outside world.
Emilia caught wind of the whispers, but she didn't take them to heart.
Last night, Tyler had sent Israel Jensen over with a check for her.
"Mr. Erickson said that when you divorced, you only took what belonged to the Dennis family and left everything else behind. This is his way of compensating you."
"He also mentioned that your company is just starting out and you need capital everywhere. With this money, things will go much smoother for you."
Israel had looked entirely sincere.
Emilia had worked alongside Israel before and understood his intentions.
But they were divorced now. She had said she would only take what was hers, and she meant it.
So, she politely declined.
Capital was certainly important, but strategy was even more critical.
Earlier that morning, her secretary had asked, "Emilia, Mr. Erickson sent over congratulatory floral arrangements. Should we accept them?"
The secretary obviously knew about her history with Tyler.
After a moment's thought, Emilia instructed her not to accept them.
While the crowd was still gossiping, a car pulled up outside.
Theodore stepped out of the vehicle.
His face bore its usual gentle smile.
But as he walked past a certain group of people, his gaze lingered on them, and his smile deepened.
Without a word, he took the lead and walked inside. Behind him, however, Ella and George Glenn couldn't keep their mouths shut.
George turned to his sister. "You know, she is seriously stubborn. A few days ago, Theodore tried to transfer all his personal assets into a joint account with her, and she flat-out refused."
The next second, Ella smacked him on the head.
"Ouch!"
