Earlier that day, she had already moved her things into the master bedroom.
At the moment, Theodore Glenn was sitting by the table in his sleepwear, reviewing some documents.
Seeing her walk in, he glanced up. "Butler Nathan just mentioned he ran into Paisley while finalizing the contract with Stella Meadows."
Emilia paused for a fraction of a second, then nodded to show she understood.
She sat down next to him, her eyes skimming the papers in his hands.
Theodore didn't try to hide anything from her.
They were all internal company metrics.
He had a massive workload to handle every single day.
Yet, despite the endless demands of his schedule, he always prioritized their family.
Everyone in Alden City knew how close-knit the Glenn family was and how warm their household felt.
This was true even though Theodore's father had passed away early.
But their two families were fundamentally different.
Maybe it came down to the family's foundation?
The Dennis family...
Back then, the Dennis family had been completely besieged from all sides.
And they were never a massive, deeply rooted dynasty to begin with; everything had been built on Inman Dennis's sheer personal competence.
That was exactly why people always called Inman a genius.
Shaking off the thought, Emilia pulled out her own stack of materials and began to read.
"Are you pushing yourself too hard?" Theodore asked softly.
She shook her head.
Her mood had been a bit rocky earlier, but thinking about everything she still needed to accomplish only solidified her resolve.
So many of her goals required one fundamental prerequisite: she had to be powerful.
Securing a firm foothold for her new company required absolute strength.
Forcing Paisley to realize that she was living off Emilia's dime—and living exceptionally well—also required strength.
Giving Bella a wonderful life and alleviating the pressure Theodore faced because of her required that same power.
Emilia was about to marry Theodore. The date was set for exactly three months from now.
Tyler didn't say a word. He merely nodded in acknowledgment and reached over to pour Owen a glass of liquor.
Owen picked up the glass and downed it in one fluid motion.
Neither of them spoke as they threw back shot after shot.
A long time passed until every bottle in the room was empty, prompting Owen to call for another round.
"Man, what are you going to do now?" Owen finally asked. "You and Emilia..."
Tyler simply shook his head.
"How about I introduce you to someone new?" Owen suggested. "There are plenty of heiresses in our circle who are crazy about you. You know you just have to say the word."
Growing up, Tyler had always been incredibly popular with women, thanks to both his staggering net worth and his devastating looks.
But Tyler had never cared for the attention. His mind had always been entirely consumed by The Erickson Group—its expansion, its restructuring, and its future.
Over the years, the only two women who had ever been by his side were Emilia and Vivienne.
But now, one was marrying another man, and the other was an international fugitive on the run.
