She nodded at Christian, then turned back to Caleb.

"I just got the confirmation. Elias has already been transferred to Solmaris. They're prepping him for surgery as we speak."

Caleb exhaled a shaky breath and slumped into a leather chair, all the tension leaving his body.

"I just hope everything goes well," Caleb whispered.

Emilia nodded.

"Your friend will understand why you did this," Emilia said softly. "Honestly, I hope this cements the bond between you two. After all..."

Emilia offered a warm, confident smile as Caleb looked up at her. "We're all in the same boat now."

Emilia extended her hand, and Caleb shook it firmly. Christian followed suit.
