Isabelle wore a white evening gown to Carmichael Group gala. For comfort, she had paired it with low–heeled satin sandals, delicate crystal detailing catching the light with each step. Thin silver ribboris were laced around her ankles, fastened into elegant
bows at the back.
The dress was adorned with a subtle fringe of feathers along the hem, making her resemble a graceful white swan. With every movement, the skirt swayed gently, creating a soft, enchanting flow–like a figure stepping out of a mesmerising painting, almost ethereal, holding the attention of everyone in the room.
Diana held her by the arm as the two entered the venue together.
Every corner of the grand ballroom buzzed with laughter and animated conversation. It was a feast for the senses, a glittering evening where influence and affluence intertwined, showcasing the height of elite social spectacle.
I’d known the Carmichaels were influential, but I hadn’t expected a single party to be mounted on such a lavish scale.
Collin spotted Isabelle and Diana the moment they entered.
His gaze followed them as they moved through the crowd. He was about to go over when a prominent business contact, appearing seemingly out of nowhere, intercepted him.
Coincidentally, Heiena made her way over just then to welcome them.
Helena’s pregnancy was quite noticeable now–her belly rounded at six months, and she seemed to be thriving.
The flute in her hand held sparkling cider. At a Carmichael–hosted event, no one would dare offer her alcohol.
“It’s been too long! I’ve missed you both!” Helena’s face glowed with vitality, nothing like someone who had recently finalized a
divorce.
Not long ago, when Helena had moved forward with divorce plans, Ronan had finally relented. He’d settled a significant portion of his assets on her, though he still lingered at the edges of her life as he always had.
Helena barely acknowledged his presence.
Isabelle offered a faint smile. It seemed she was, in a way, following in Helena’s footsteps.
She rested a hand lightly on her own still–flat stomach.
Not many people knew about her pregnancy yet, and she didn’t plan on making it public especially since word of the trouble between her and Damian seemed to have already gotten around.
“What can I get you to drink?” Helena signaled to a passing server
Isabelle accepted a cup of warm milk, just like Helena’s, and Diana took one as well.
“What, have you two taken a vow of abstinence?” Helena teased.
“My cycle’s due soon, gotta take care of the temple,” Diana said, pursing her lips. “Let’s go find some real food!”
Diana’s gaze drifted to Isabelle. They hadn’t eaten much before heading out, and by now Isabelle’s stomach was surely protesting

tately, her appetite had been formidable, with mercifully no morning sickness to speak of–all in all, the pregnancy had been smooth, nothing too disruptive.
Helena took Isabelle’s hand, and the three of them made their way toward the extensive buffet area.
“Sweetie, why so quiet? Where’s your other hatt He should be here tonight–why didn’t you arrive together?” Helena seemed to pick up on the subtle shift in her mood.
“Did you two have a fight?” she asked gently.
Just as Isabelle was about to answer, she spotted the man entering through the main doors.
He carried an air of innate authority, like an aristocrat from an old portrait.
His sharp jawline and defined features formed an impeccably handsome face. The custom–tailored suit Isabelle had designed for him fit flawlessly, accentuating his powerful presence. Every movement exuded a disciplined, poised grace.
sabelle’s gaze met his deep, intense eyes for a moment before she looked away.
The man paused almost imperceptibly, his lips parting as if to speak.
He stared at her with a palpable intensity, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly.
She had really come tonight–as stunning as ever.
‘Mr. Cross.”
His thoughts were interrupted by Brian, who appeared at his side. Reluctantly, he withdrew his lingering gaze.
sabelle also looked away, feeling a surprising calm settle inside/her.
Diana noticed Brian too, but her expression didn’t soften. She gave him only a cursory glance before focusing her attention
elsewhere.
As far as she was concerned, whatever had been between them was finished.
Brian had returned the day before, originally intending to apologize. But during a rest stop after landing, Ashley has managed to slip away.
