Chapter 320 Passionate Encounter
Diana never missed a golden opportunity.
Helena took a sip of her milk and sighed. It’s too bad I’m showing so much now–no one’s going to ask me to dance.”
Under her breath, she added, “Otherwise I’d be trading partners all night.”
Isabelle couldn’t help but laugh.
The Helena from before had been conservative, polished, every bit the well–bred lady. But years with Ronan had worn away all th patience. The new Helena gave as good as she got, stood her ground, and knew exactly when to walk away.
Once they finished eating, they headed into the lively, buzzing ballroom. The space was brilliantly lit, filled with the clink of glasse and the rich scent of fine wine weaving through the chatter of the crowd.
The masquerade was already in full swing. Guests wearing elaborate masks smiled beneath them, their expressions playful and mysterious.
Helena handed each of them a mask, eagerly helping them put theirs on.
As music swelled through the hall, couples began drifting onto the dance floor. The men looked dashing, the women captivating- all gliding through the crowd, their masked glances creating a dazzling, hypnotic swirl.
Isabelle felt distinctly out of place and was considering a quiet exit when a masked man smoothly swept Diana away from her side
Diana didn’t resist at all.
Į
Typical. Isabelle thought, shaking her head slightly.
She stepped back from the edge of the dance floor and found a seat at a nearby bar.
“Not bad,” Diana murmured, tilting her head back to study the man whose face was completely hidden. “Pretty solid.”
Her hands wandered, tracing the shape of his arm through his suit jacket.
Beneath the mask, the man’s lips curved into a smile. He didn’t speak, just tightened his hold on her waist and guided her deeper into the flow of dancers.
“Why so quiet?” she asked, her nails lightly grazing his shoulder.
His breath caught audibly, and the warmth of his hand against her back seemed to grow more intense.
“Not your type?” she pressed, genuinely curious now
ľ
Diana wasn’t classically stunning, but she had that kind of appealing, lasting beauty She kept herself in great shape, and when she put in even a little effort, men were never in short supply.
“Alright then…”
She felt a flicker of disappointment. A man built like this would’ve been fun
He actually reminded her a little of Brian.

Just as she thought about finding another partner, they drifted toward the edge of the dance floor. In one smooth motion, he
released her waist, took her hand, and pulled her into a secluded alcove.
Diana gasped–the sound swallowed by the music–and before she knew it, she was inside a private lounge.
“Mmph-”
Her mask was tugged off.
His kiss came like a sudden storm–insistent, overwhelming, taking over every one of her senses.
He stole the breath right out of her lungs.
When his large hand slid from her waist under her skirt, a soft, involuntary moan escaped her.
Only then did he ease up, and she finally saw his face. Brian.
“You?” Diana tried to push back, but his hands held her firmly in place.
“Who were you hoping for?”
The man in front of her looked more mature, more grounded than she remembered. His muscles felt harder, even the strength in his legs seemed greater.
Brian let out a low, humorless laugh, his hand cradling the back of her head, tilting her face up to his.
“Your taste hasn’t changed a bit, Ms. Williams,” he said, his voice rough. “Even picking some random guy, you still use me as the standard?”
The ego on him.
“Not bad“?” he repeated, mocking. “Don’t you know exactly how good I am, Ms. Williams? Or have you forgotten? Need a eminder? Hmm?”
‘Ah!”
Diana bit her lip as he deliberately shifted against her, making her ears burn red.
“You break up with me so you can go find other men? You think guys built like me are just everywhere? Who else is gonna pull off those moves with you?”
“Brian, you’re shameless–shut up!” Diana flushed, equal parts anger and embarrassment
“Oh, I can’t say it?” He leaned in closer, his body pressing hers. “You want to play games, fine. But don’t play with how i feel about
