Chapter 614 Jealousy
“Did their dad pick them up?” he asked.
“Yeah. Look how happy they are,” She looked up at Lucas beside her.
Lucas nodded. “It would be even happier if their mom were there.”
“How do you know their mom isn’t here?”

“If she were, would he have asked you out to dinner alone? Total player!” Lucas scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain.
Why is he calling the man names for no reason?
Lynn didn’t understand his train of thought.
“Would it be okay if his wife wasn’t here and he asked me to dinner?”
Lucas grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the elevator. “If his wife wasn’t here and you went, you’d be the one in the wrong!”
Lynn fell silent, pouting.
He was clearly jealous.
Lucas squeezed her hand, softening his tone. “Do you want to eat out?”
“Yeah, but only with you,” Lynn said.
Lucas almost flicked her forehead–he’d thought she was thinking about that guy, but she just wanted to eat with him.
A proud smile spread across his face.
Lynn noticed how easy it was to please Lucas–a single sentence, a small gesture, and his mood would
shift.
“Brute,” she said, looking up at him.
“Hmm?”
“You looked so handsome when you came to pick me up earlier,” she said, her eyes shining.
Lucas looked down at her chubby face, his cheeks growing warm at the compliment.
“Brute, you’re blushing!” Lynn laughed.
He looked away, swallowing hard, and said nothing.
Lynn leaned closer, staring at his rare blushing face. “You’re shy!”

Unable to hold back any longer, he wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his arms before trapping her against the elevator wall and leaning down to kiss her passionately.
Lynn mentally kicked herself–she’d talked too much.
Held so tight, she felt her waist was going to break.
She melted against him as Lucas kissed with earnest possessiveness.
With a ding, the elevator arrived at their floor.
A pinch to her cheek accompanied Lucas‘ grin. “Lynn, you’re the one who’s shy.”
Looking down, Lynn touched her lips gently; it was unbelievable how quickly Lucas had gotten turned on.
Lucas took hers, leading her limp form out of the elevator.
Back in the room, Lucas helped remove her coat first. “Want to take a shower?”
“Yeah.”
She was used to it now, feeling uncomfortable if she didn’t shower.
Lucas nodded.
Wrinkling her nose, Lynn stared at his feet. “What’s that smell? It’s terrible. Did you step in sheep poop?”
A frown deepened on Lucas‘ face. He’d been in a hurry earlier and hadn’t noticed.
Laughter bubbled up as Lynn headed to the shower, while Lucas took off his shoes and called Vincent to come clean them.
After her shower, the perfume Daisy had given her came to mind. Picking it up, Lynn sniffed it—no scent at all, and no brand name on the bottle.
Just as she was about to try spraying it, Lucas walked in.
“Dinner’s ready,” he announced.
Turning to look at him, Lynn nodded and set the perfume down.
Walking out, a table full of domestic food greeted her.
Sitting down together, Lucas spoke up. “I’ll take you out tomorrow.”
Eager nods were followed by a flicker of uncertainty crossing Lynn’s face. “Where are we going?”
Saying nothing. Lucas picked up a special hardcover book with a gilded cover from the side.

Lynn had many copies of this classic in various editions, but this copy looked plain–yet because it was from him, she felt happier than when receiving Joseph’s rare book.
At least it wasn’t a bunch of gaudy red roses.

Taking it, she opened the cover.
“Autographs!” Lynn gasped, looking up in surprise.
They were the autographs of the male and female leads from the movie adaptation.
He’d actually gotten them!
The book was hugged to her chest before Lynn leaned over to kiss his cheek. “I love you so much!”
Dinner was eaten happily, with Lynn occasionally pushing dishes in front of Lucas.
He watched, amused by how easily she was won over.
So easy to capture. If I didn’t really love her, someone else would have tricked her by now.
“By the way, you said you’re taking me somewhere tomorrow–where is it?” Lynn asked, pushing another dish in front of him.
These little gestures were becoming more and more comfortable.
Eating the food from the dish, Lucas smiled, “Pemberley Manor.”
“Hmm?” Her fork paused mid–air before the realization hit.
Trying to hide her excitement, Lynn asked after finishing the food in her mouth, “Did work?”

“Yeah.”
A smile spread across Lynn’s face as she nodded, her appetite suddenly increasing.
Lucas picked up a napkin to wipe the sauce from the corner of her mouth, his eyes lingering on her face.
