Chapter 664 The Trigger
“Do you get cramps at night too?” he asked.
“Yes.” Daisy pressed her lips together.

She’d had a few cramps over the past couple of weeks, but they’d been manageable. She could usually work through them on her own. Last night, with Anthony beside her, she must have slept top soundly to notice.
“They’re quite the handful.” Anthony looked at her belly.
Daisy smiled.
He picked up her socks and put them on for her. “Want to walk around a bit?”
“Okay.”
Daisy sat up. Anthony helped her to her feet, then knelt down, placed her shoes in front of her, and put them on.
She watched him, feeling lucky. Luckily it was him. Anyone else probably would have tried to scam her.
“What’s wrong?” Anthony noticed her staring.
Daisy shook her head, smiled, and slowly stood up. They walked out together.
That evening, they met up with friends on the rooftop terrace of the lounge to drink coffee.
Daisy sat next to Isabelle, asking her nonstop about giving birth. Lynn ate fruit and listened intently.
At the next table, the men were drinking and laughing.
Isabelle scrolled through Instagram and looked at the oil paintings Daisy had posted–Anthony’s profile, then her own profile, placed side by side so they seemed to be gazing deeply at each other.
“I’m still shocked that you two ended up together,” Isabelle said.
“Why not?” Daisy glanced at Anthony. He happened to be looking at her too.
“So you’re just staying home being Mrs. Vale now?” Lynn had her feet curled up on the chair, looking from Anthony to Daisy.
“I want to go out, but I’m too tired. Every day is exhausting. At least the company is doing well.” Daisy sipped her juice.
Lynn murmured, “With Mr. Vale around, of course it’s doing well.”
Daisy looked proud. “That’s different. Working with Westperch Group means my retirement is already taken care of.”

Chapter 664 The Trigger
Isabelle was confused. “How is it different?”
“How is it the same?” Daisy asked.
Lynn said, “Isn’t it all yours?”
“Yes, it’s all mine.” Daisy still didn’t get it.
Lynn caught something. “Haven’t you noticed anything else?”

“Like what? It’s been so smooth. Is Westperch Group a scam or something?” Daisy took a small sip of juice.
Was Westperch Group a scam?
Those words caught the attention of the men at the next table.

Isabelle smirked, “Haven’t you wondered why everything’s been so easy?”
“It is strange…” Daisy thought about it. She still didn’t understand.
Lynn burst out laughing. “You two really don’t know each other, do you?”
Daisy’s face flushed. “What does that have to do with him?”
She stopped mid–sentence. Something clicked. Her eyes shot to Anthony.
Damian laughed at Anthony. “Ms. Clark didn’t know you’re the president of the Westperch scam group?”
Lucas was already doubled over laughing.
Daisy finally understood.
Lynn patted her on the shoulder. “Ms. Clark, weren’t you an expert on Mr. Vale? How did you miss this?”
“Why didn’t any of you tell me?” Daisy hissed.
“We all knew. You spent all last year researching him. We thought you already knew.” Lynn shrugged.
Daisy covered half her face with her hand, mortified.
So that was why everything had been so easy. She was the last to know.
And Anthony had never said a word.
At the end of the night, everyone left. Anthony stayed with Daisy while she went to the restroom, then they walked downstairs together.
Daisy wanted to ask Anthony about Westperch Group, but she didn’t know how to bring it up.
“You’re not drunk, are you?” she asked.

“No.”
Daisy kept her distance. Anthony was always clear–headed after drinking, but he didn’t seem to like her getting close to him.
Not because he was worried about secondhand smoke or alcohol affecting the babies. Just… he seemed to pull away.
Daisy understood. She didn’t push.
After all, they didn’t have feelings for each other.

Just as they were about to leave the lounge, two men in flashy clothes walked in.
Daisy grabbed Anthony’s hand, turned away, and buried her face in his chest.
Anthony froze. He felt her grip tighten.
“Ivy?”
Her voice was laced with fear. “Hold me,” she whispered.
Anthony didn’t ask why. He put his arms around her.
Daisy held him back just as tightly.
Her body was rigid. Her fingers clutched the back of his shirt. Her hot breath spread across his chest.
It tickled.
Anthony could feel how tense she was.
It had started the moment those two men walked in.
Joseph stood at the bar, watching them. His eyes followed the two flashy men as well.
