In Anthony’s arms, Daisy cautiously lifted her head and glanced around. The two men were walking toward the bar.
Joseph stood at the counter, his expression dark.
“What’s wrong?” Anthony followed her gaze.
Those two men.

“Go wait in the car.” Anthony had noticed Joseph’s expression too.

“No!” Daisy grabbed his wrists with both hands, holding him back. “Go home…”

She knew what kind of man Anthony was. She didn’t want trouble. She didn’t want him getting mixed up in this.
Her eyes grew wet.
Anthony touched her cheek. “Be good.”
Daisy didn’t let go. She shook her head hard and pulled him toward the exit.
Anthony sensed something was wrong. As they walked out, he caught Thomas‘ eye. Thomas was smoking on the curb. He glanced at the lounge, nodded at Anthony, dusted himself off, and walked inside.
Back in the car, Daisy still had a death grip on Anthony’s hand.
Anthony pressed her head against his chest.
She calmed down.
She didn’t say anything. Anthony seemed to understand.
He called a designated driver. On the way home, Daisy clung to him the whole time.
When they got home, she went into the bathroom to shower. Anthony stood outside the door. It was slightly ajar. Through the gap, he could see her reflection in the mirror–her silhouette through the frosted glass of the shower.
He didn’t stare. He glanced at his phone instead.
Thomas sent, “It’s him.”
Anthony replied, “Same as before.”
“Understood.”

Chapter 665 The Nightmare
He put his phone away.
Daisy came out of the shower with wet hair, a towel slipping off her head.
She jumped when she saw Anthony standing outside the door.
He took her hand, led her to the bed, and silently picked up the hairdryer.
As he dried her hair, Daisy opened her phone.
Joseph had messaged her, “Lucas‘ people are on it. It’s fine.”
She exhaled.
Anthony saw the message too.

Daisy was already in bed when Anthony went to take his shower. She tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Her mind was full of those dark years from that night years ago.
A short while later, Anthony came in with his pillow. He started to say something. Daisy looked at him, then scooted over to make room.
He took the hint, closed the door, and walked over.
“You can’t sleep?”
“No.” Daisy hugged her pillow and watched him lie down in front of her. Her breathing grew heavier.
“Want me to tell you a story?” Anthony tucked the blanket around her.
“What?” Daisy thought she’d misheard. “No. Tell babies. They like listening to you.”
Every time Anthony talked to the babies, they moved. Wherever he touched, they squirmed. It was amazing.
“They’ll only be happy if you’re happy,” he said.
Daisy looked into his eyes. Those eyes always held a mystery she couldn’t quite read.
“I’m not unhappy.” She looked away. Then, suddenly, “Westperch Group is yours?”
“It’s yours now.”
Daisy froze.
“You didn’t read the documents?” Anthony was curious, He’d assumed she knew.
Most girls would have gone through every page.
“No.”

He owned properties everywhere. But he never seemed to live in any of them. She didn’t know why he’d bought so many.
Now they were all in her name. She didn’t know what to do with them.
Anthony seemed to like her a little more for that.
“I’ll manage everything. Just focus on the pregnancy.”
Daisy didn’t say anything. Talking to him had calmed her down.
“Go to sleep.” Anthony could see she was exhausted.
“I want to hear you talk.”
Anthony hesitated. “I’m not good with words.”

Daisy smiled softly. She took his hand and placed it on her belly. “I can’t sleep anyway.”
His hand was stiff but careful.
In the end, Anthony didn’t say anything. The only time he’d ever spoken to the babies was in the hospital hallway.
Daisy didn’t push. She fell asleep without realizing it.
She was facing away from him. Anthony lay close behind her, hovering just out of contact.
In the middle of the night, she had a nightmare. She was back in that dark alley.
Barefoot. Cornered. Pitch black.
“Mr. Vale…” She whimpered in her sleep.
“Mr. Vale…”
Anthony was sleeping deeply when he heard her voice. He jolted awake.
“Ivy.” He patted her shoulder gently.
“Mr. Vale…” Her voice was hazy.
“I’m here.”
He reached out and wiped the faint sweat from her forehead.
