Leon and I remained in the room that the Alpha had told us to stay. It did not give us the permission to leave the park. So we just stayed put, waiting for our fate to be decided.
"Oh my God, we cannot stay here. We cannot."
"Why? Why are these people that you are all terrified about?" I put my hands in the air and he turned.
"Someone you don’t want to meet."
"Are you sure you don’t want to meet them?"
"Yes, very well sure. There’s a reason why you wiped your memories, Aurora. You don’t want to get your memories back and curse yourself. Understand?" Leon said.
And I know that, because I know it is me who wiped my memories. And he’s right. There is a very good reason why I did that. I said to myself, and then Leon gazed out of the window.
"I’m coming, Aurora. I need to jump and at least find an exit."
"Are you out of your mind? Do you even have a brain at all? What if the Alpha catches you? He will straight up behead you. You know the consequence of trespassing, right?"
He said it to our faces. Beheading.
"Treason," I said, knocking the sense into his head with my words.
But he shook. "I can’t allow us to stay here. I will jump out of the window now, and you will remain here. Understand? I will go find an exit, and the minute I find one, I will immediately come for you, and we will both run away. Again."
"I know that, I know that."
And then he opened the window and he jumped out.
I peeped out of the window, and Leon had completely vanished. I did not even see a trail of him, or even hear him landing. For how long has he been escaping?
I closed the window, and then I saw Kovu pawing on my bed.
"Kovu!" I rushed to it, and I started petting it when it licked me.
I don’t know why these pets just keep disappearing and appearing every single time. But still, it is here. I brushed its body.
"Where have you been?"
It purred. It purred. And then I noticed its color had changed. It was black when I saw it, but now it was not — white. Well, it was a lion when I first originally saw it. This is it. This is a very powerful animal that I am lucky is on my side.
I got up, gazing out of the window to see any trail of Leon, but still no trail.
"Where is that... where is that stubborn man?" I gritted my teeth. "He’d better be back."
And then I saw some wolf guards holding lanterns as they must have heard something. I immediately held my breath.
Have they caught Leon? This fast? Are they going to be beheading him already?
But when I looked at them closely, they did not seem to be with anybody.
Phew! I let out a deep breath.
But still then, where is Leon?
I kept asking myself all the questions until I fell asleep. I did not even know how long I was asleep for until Kovu woke me up by licking my face.
I got up to see it was morning already. I looked around the room to see if Leon had sneaked back in, but he was nowhere back.
"Oh, no! I hope... maybe... have they caught him already?"
I continued to go check. I opened the door, but the wolf guard immediately closed it back on me.
"I’m sorry, sir. The Alpha commanded for us not to open the door for you and your friend inside."
"Oh, yeah," I said. And then I immediately obeyed because no one must know about Leon not inside. If I try to open the door again, his eyes will scan the room and will notice Leon is not actually inside.
"Oh, shit! Where is this man?" I said.
And then I talked to Kovu.
"Kovu, please, can you help me go find Leon?" I said. And then it purred.
I lifted it and then opened the window. "I’m going to have to throw you out of the window. Safe journey, you understand? Don’t break a leg."
I threw it.
And then, surprisingly, Kovu landed on his forefeet. He turned to me and he purred and started whining.
I closed the window immediately, silently hoping that Leon is still alive because there’s absolutely nothing I can do without that man.
"Damn it! He knows. And he still keeps putting his life on the line. So stupid," I said to myself.
And then... And then... the door.
And then a knock was on the door.
"Aurora, are you in there?" the wolf guard said.
"Yes, yes, I am."
"Yeah, what about your friend? Is he in there?"
I immediately formed Leon’s voice.
"Yes, yes. I am," I said in a mumbling tone.
"I can only hear someone. Are the both of you inside there?"
