Verity:
I did not understand, but he was no longer driving me to the hospital.
He was taking me somewhere else, and I was in complete shock.
He took a much longer route, driving recklessly without stopping anywhere, and then I realized we were heading back to the omega community.
I tried to speak, taking deep, heavy breaths.
"I need to g–o to the hos—spital," I pleaded, my ribs tightening as I nearly screamed in pain.
"Plea—-se," I uttered.
But he did not stop. He just kept driving.
At that moment, it hit me. I was doing the right thing by these people.
They did not deserve any mercy. The way he was driving me made one thing clear.
He had read the letter.
I slowly reached for it, but my vision blurred, and I passed out again.
When I opened my eyes this time, I found myself in his arms as he carried me into my home.
How he had gotten inside, I could only guess.
He must have gone through my pocket, taken my keys, and unlocked the door.
How did he know the passcode to the other lock? That I couldn’t guess.
He carried me inside, and I fully woke when he dropped me onto the bed.
It was a rough landing, almost as if he had thrown me onto it.
The force jolted me awake.
"I’m so sorry," he immediately apologized, though it did not sound sincere.
It felt more like he was apologizing because his aggression had slipped out.
"I need to go to the hospital," I uttered, slowly forcing myself into a sitting position on the bed.
He paced back and forth at the foot of the bed, running a hand through his hair.
That was when I realized the letter had landed on the bed with me when he had laid me down.
I slowly reached for it, and as soon as I opened it, my heart dropped.
It was written for Gigi.
’Dear love,
I know you will find her body here. This is a token of my love for you. I’ve done this for you. But please, try not to take her to the hospital. Try not to tell anyone. Don’t go complaining to the Alpha King brothers. They cannot protect you like I can.
Because if you do, Gigi, I’m sorry, but I’ll have to come for you next. I’ll finally have to steal you. And you know I can do that. If I can wander around without getting noticed, I can be right behind you next time.’
My eyes filled with tears as I looked up at Ragnar.
"Oh, don’t look at me like that," Ragnar hissed, clearly realizing I had read the letter.
