Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All novel Chapter 134

Chapter 134: 134-Once Upon A Time When I Ran Away

Verity:

Flashback:

"When is he going to be home?" Gigi asked, almost ready to throw the cushion at my face.

I could tell she had a lot on her mind because, ever since she arrived, she had ignored me.

Even when I asked if she wanted something to eat and offered to make it for her, she brushed me off with a sharp wave of her hand.

I was a good cook though.

"He’s working a double shift at the café now, you know, because—" I trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.

I hoped she understood it was because of her brother.

"And that’s my brother’s fault?" she asked.

Something told me she didn’t believe it was her brother’s fault.

I didn’t respond.

I just stood in front of her with my hands clasped in front of my abdomen.

"Now because of you he is doing shifts after shifts. So who will play games with me now?" Gigi hissed, shooting me a deadly glare.

I was a little confused, though I didn’t say anything.

I’d heard that Gigi hated playing video games, so why was she always at our house, playing with my brother for hours?

Was she the one taking up his time?

Or was she doing it to impress him and make him think they were compatible?

Even if she didn’t, knowing my brother, he would still love and care for her.

He would still consider her his best friend.

"Can I get you something to drink?" I asked again.

She looked up from her phone and grunted.

"Fine. Get me—" She paused, her eyes wandering as though she were thinking. "Come sit over here. I need to talk to you," she added, almost in a hurry.

I walked over and sat beside her on the couch.

This was the first time she had let me sit with her, at least when my brother wasn’t around.

I’d noticed the difference.

She treated me well whenever he was there, but when he wasn’t, she said things that would make anyone think she didn’t like me.

"Verity, you know your brother has the potential to become anything he wants in life, right?" she asked, reaching over to gently tuck the loose strands of my hair behind my shoulder.

It was the first time she had touched me so gently.

"I know. He’s the best," I replied, smiling at the thought of my brother.

He really was a hard worker, so whenever someone praised him, I couldn’t help agreeing.

"Do you know what’s holding him back?" she asked, blinking slowly.

My heart skipped a beat.

"You."

The way she said it made me feel as though my heart had stopped completely.

"You’re the reason he can’t move forward. You’re a liability, a burden on him, Verity," she continued in a soft voice.

Then she began pointing out everything he spent on me, all the money he used for my needs.
