Jenna:
I had almost collided with Theodore. A startled scream escaped me.
The moment I looked at him, it only took a single glance for my heart to start pounding.
He was looking incredibly handsome with his hands tucked into his pants pockets.
He must have come from some kind of meeting.
The brothers did not really spend much time at the office anymore.
They had their own rules, and nobody questioned them.
Ragnar was the only one doing most of the work, and he handled it all by himself.
Even so, the employees were never given time off.
As for Jaguar and Theodore, they mainly attended meetings held at cafés or restaurants.
"Why are you in such a rush?" Theodore asked me.
There was a shine in his eyes, as though he wasn’t getting bored talking to me the way Ragnar did.
"Nothing. I was just heading downstairs," I replied shyly, tucking my hair behind my ear.
"Really? And what else did you do the whole day?" Theodore asked.
"Um, nothing much," I replied. "I haven’t even seen the entire mansion yet. Can you believe that?" I asked with a smile.
He stared at me in silence.
There was a strange kind of shine in his eyes.
At first, I thought it was because he was interested in our conversation.
But now it seemed like it was something more.
It was completely different, something I had never seen in the way a man looked at me.
"Oh, really? Let me show you a very special place in the mansion."
He suddenly reached for my arm and gently took hold of it.
I didn’t question him as he led me downstairs.
I felt his fingers tighten around my arm.
The cold skin-to-skin contact made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I quickly looked around to make sure Alpha King Ragnar wasn’t home.
He really creeped me out.
He kept holding my hand very casually, as if it were no big deal.
He led me down an alleyway to the back of the mansion, where I had heard there was a grand hall.
He opened the door, and that was when he finally let go of my hand.
He gestured for me to walk inside, and I did.
I didn’t know what he was trying to do.
"You know there’s a kitchen down here," he said, pointing toward it.
I looked at him in confusion and followed him to the kitchen in silence.
"I guess this is where they prepare the meals. I mean, where the staff prepares them," I said as I stepped into the kitchen.
It was huge, with a large center island and long counters lining the walls.
"Yeah, this is where they do it," Theodore replied, his eyes settling on me in a strange way.
I quickly moved behind the center island and ran my hand across the smooth countertop.
It was so smooth and clean.
It was as if he had been waiting for that moment because he quickly came up behind me and placed his hands on either side of the marble countertop, leaning over me from behind.
"Have you ever had any strange fantasies?" he whispered.
He wasn’t speaking directly into my ear, but he was so close behind me, leaning over me, that I could feel the weight of his body.
