Fated To Three, And I Broke Them All novel Chapter 92

Chapter 92: 92-Interrupting Their Tea Party

Verity:

Within seconds, people started making their way toward me.

I was playing the part of a stressed, bewildered woman who had never seen something like this before.

A woman holding a little girl’s hand was the first to arrive, followed by an elderly man.

"What happened?" the woman asked urgently.

I pointed toward the street with a shaking hand.

"I —do–n’t —know," I stammered.

The woman turned her head to follow my gesture and immediately spotted the body lying on the ground.

"Oh my goddess!" she screamed, quickly covering her daughter’s eyes while pulling her away from the body.

"Don’t look, sweetheart," she told her daughter, who immediately hugged her mother in fear.

The old man hurried past us.

"What happened to him?" he asked over his shoulder.

I shook my head repeatedly.

"Do you know what happened?" he asked again.

I shook my head once more.

"No, I just arrived and found him here." My voice trembled as I gulped hard. "What is going on? Did somebody stab him? Is he dead?"

I let out a shaky cry, fully playing the part.

"No, no, it’s okay, child," the old man replied calmly as he crouched beside Oliver. "Let me check."

My heart was pounding so hard I was afraid somebody would hear it.

The old man reached toward Oliver’s neck.

A few seconds passed.

"He’s still breathing," he announced.

I immediately let out a shaky breath as a part of the plan.

"Oh, thank goddess," I said, placing both hands on my chest and silently thanking the Moon Goddess for saving this ’innocent, poor man’s life.’

The old man frowned as he looked at the trash bag covering Oliver’s head.

"What in the world?"

The bag had slipped down to his chin, but it was obvious that somebody had deliberately covered his face.

The old man carefully grabbed the edge of it and pulled it back.

I gasped dramatically, immediately drawing attention to myself.

The old man and the woman both turned to look at me.

By then, another young man had arrived after noticing the commotion.

"What happened here?" he asked, slowing to a stop beside us.

Nobody had an answer.

All of us were staring at the unconscious man lying in the middle of the street.

The young man looked between us before his eyes settled on me.

I guessed he could tell from my widened eyes and the way I was staring at the man.

"Do you know him?" he asked.

I swallowed hard before shakily nodding.

"Yes."

They all looked at me with hope.

"He is my boss’s brother-in-law."

The old man’s eyes widened.

The woman pulled her daughter a little closer.

Suddenly, everybody seemed a lot more interested in who the unconscious man was, what had happened to him, and how I was the one who had found him.

We had brought Oliver to the hospital.

I had acted like I didn’t know his phone’s passcode, so I couldn’t call anyone.

That was because I wanted to be the one to take him home personally.

Like he had said, I already knew his address. The new one, though.

"He doesn’t have any life-threatening injuries, but somebody really took their anger out on him," the doctor said as the old man and I stood in front of him.
