Chapter 178
Vance was efficient, always achieving his goals. Now, only the matter between the two of them remained.
“I’ve done everything you asked,” he said. “The house has been sold. All the bags and gifts have been cashed out. The money is all yours.”
He pulled out his phone and transferred the funds. Rebecca checked the amount and nodded.
“To prove my sincerity, I’ll take you to see it. The house has already changed ownership, and the buyer is preparing for renovation.” He started the car. “After you see it, please keep your promise and go to the police station to withdraw the case.”
Rebecca’s hands were still bandaged, and the wound on her head had only just healed.
“I know pushing you now is not exactly humane,” he sighed. “But this has to be done eventually. Cathy has already fulfilled her part. Dragging it out is making her uneasy.”
She twisted her wrist. The white gauze looked glaring in the sunlight. People could be human one moment and monsters the next.
“Are you with me?”
“Don’t rush me. It will be done in a couple of days.”
Before she left the country, she would make sure everything was settled.
“What does that mean? Delaying it is not cool.”
She smiled bitterly, realizing he had misunderstood!!!
He slammed on the brakes. “You’re not playing me, are you? I’ve been running around like an idiot doing everything you asked. Don’t tell me you are bailing on me now. Are you testing my patience?”
“No,” she replied calmly. “Let’s do it now.”
He studied her faint smile, unsure whether she was lying. “Even if you refuse today, I’ll drag you there by force.”
His gaze was penetrating. It was as if the man who had fiercely protected her earlier had been an illusion, He drove off, heading to a residential complex. As they parked, Catherine came down carrying a big bag.
Seeing his car, she rushed over with a pitiful expression.
He got out quickly. “What’s wrong? What is in the bag?”
“I was just about to call you,” she sobbed.
“What happened? Why are you crying?” He bent down, concerned.
“Nothing. I’m just sad.” She burst into tears. “It took me so long to decorate that place. It was the home

you gave me. There are so many memories-nights we spent drinking and chatting. And now it’s all gone.

Vance glanced back at the car. Rebecca poked her head out and grinned at him-a grin that felt creepy and led him to think she was plotting something.
Catherine didn’t see their exchange, still dabbing at her tears.
She opened the bag and added, “Can I keep these dolls? Tell Rebecca they aren’t luxury items. Let me have them. You bought them when you missed me. They’re things I like, and anyway, they’re not what
she would want.”

Chapter 179
Vance glanced at the car once again. Rebecca leaned on the window, smiling at them.
Those were the exact dolls she had shipped to his office. Catherine had taken them.
“Hi!” She waved. “I’m right here. You can tell me directly. No need to go through him.”
Catherine froze in shock, then grew even more flustered at Rebecca’s smirk. She fretted that Rebecca would refuse to withdraw the case because of her actions.
“Rebecca…” She began her performance. “I’m sorry. Could you cut me some slack? I really can’t bear to part with these dolls. The luxury items, the house, the watches, jewelry, the money… I don’t care about any of that. But these dolls… Vance collected them from all over the world for me. They may not be worth much, but they’re priceless to me. You don’t like them anyway. Can I keep them?”
I
“They’re just trash I threw away. If you like them, keep them.” Rebecca waved it off, glancing at Vance pointedly.
Her tone was biting, striking a nerve. He started to argue, “Rebecca…”
She cut him off, continuing, “You heard her, Vance. She said she doesn’t want houses, luxury items, watches, jewelry, or money. So, don’t insult her pure soul by giving her any of those things anymore. That wouldn’t be right.” 1
His eyes narrowed. “Should I insult you with them instead?”
“No, I don’t see it as an insult,” she replied smoothly. “It is what I deserve. Shower me with it all you like. I don’t mind. Just don’t insult her anymore. Right, Catherine?”
Catherine’s mouth hung open, but no words came out.
“All right, quit yapping,” Vance said, hauling the bag inside. “We need to finish this before rush hour.”
Catherine hovered by the passenger door, then reluctantly climbed into the back seat. She shot Rebecca a venomous look, then pointed at the cartoon ornament hanging from the rearview mirror.
“Rebecca, I took down your wooden plaque and hung this instead,” she said. “You don’t mind, right? It’s so cute, and it makes Vance smile when he drives.”
Rebecca truly didn’t understand how Catherine-knowing full well she was the other woman-had the nerve to provoke her again and again.
Thankfully, she no longer wanted this marriage or this man. Otherwise, she would have died of anger long ago.
“Oh, that plaque?” She shrugged. “He is wearing it around his neck now. Didn’t you know?”
She had noticed it earlier when he held her at Josette’s house.
