Five Years of Marriage to Mr. Bradford (by Koi Fish) novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200

“Cathy doesn’t dare look at you because you’re too scary,” Vance explained.

The cab pulled up right on time. Rebecca opened the door, climbed in, and slammed it shut without waiting for him to finish.

She was scary? Hilarious.

The woman trying to burn her alive was a sweet bunny in his eyes, while the victim was being called

In the back seat, she pressed a hand to her chest, grateful that she was almost free of this pair and that a whole wide world was waiting for her. That cage would have trapped her forever and drained her vitality.

Back home, she showered and grabbed something to eat, then video-called Josette. She didn’t dare visit the hotel too often in case her parents followed her and caused more trouble.

Josette looked relaxed on the screen, and she was relieved.

She hadn’t checked eBay all day, and notifications had piled up. Opening them revealed a dozen more closed deals.

She checked the time; it was still early enough to ship them. While Vance was away, she quickly packed the rest of the clothes and called the courier.

After two rounds of decluttering, her closet now had huge empty spaces, but she didn’t feel regret.

Instead, her shoulders felt lighter than air. It was like carrying a crushing backpack for miles and suddenly dropping half the weight. She felt like she could fly.

Then she started scrolling through different apps and stumbled on a local news story: Vance Bradford visited a retirement center to check on the seniors and donate supplies.

The article called him an outstanding young entrepreneur who visited to show care, hoping that all seniors would have the support they needed in their later years.

It gave him plenty of positive press and clicks.

Catherine appeared smiling in some of the photos, drawing zero attention. The fame-hungry woman had somehow stayed completely in the background during this publicity wave.

But regardless of the motive, be it pure PR or a scheme, the seniors had enjoyed the afternoon.

Rebecca swiped past the story.

Vance still wasn’t home by midnight, A call woke her up from her sleep. It wasn’t Vance, but Aiden.

“Do you want to come and pick up Vance?” he asked.

She blinked, unable to believe her ears. What were they thinking?

“Vance is wasted,” Aiden explained. “He keeps saying he has to go home and show you something important. Come get him.”

“What is it? Just have a courier bring it.” Rebecca was wide awake now but had zero interest in playing chauffeur.

“Rebecca…” Vance slurred on the phone. “Never mind. No need to come. I’ll get back on my own. It’s the stuff from this afternoon.”

She realized it was Soren’s signed waiver and the notarized papers. Just then, chaos erupted on the other end. Plates and glasses were smashed.

“Vance, don’t push yourself. You’re in no shape to drive; a ride-share isn’t safe either. And your cold- hearted wife isn’t coming downstairs to get you,” Aiden said.

“Vance, forget it. Just crash at Cathy’s tonight,” Lucas suggested.
