Chapter 232
Later, those responsibilities had gradually shifted to Josette, then to Nancy.
Since then, Vance had assisted Rebecca sporadically.
Deep in reflection, he finished drying Catherine’s hair and placed the dryer back in its spot. “There you go. Time to rest.”
He turned away, heading to the living room to collect his suitcase before going upstairs to prepare for his own shower.
Catherine’s hair now felt warm and fluffy against the cool air from the AC, draping comfortably over her shoulders.
So, this was the tenderness Rebecca got every day. Jealousy clawed through her. She let the bathrobe slip off and climbed the stairs with one strap already falling from her shoulder.
She paused at the bathroom door, hearing running water. Vance was showering.
The bathroom was made of frosted glass, obscuring fine details but revealing a vague outline. He appeared to have his back turned.
After a pause, Catherine pushed the door open and drawled, “Vance…”
She was poised to advance, only to see that he had already put on his bathrobe at some point. “Van…”
Her fervent anticipation froze in an instant, but she refused to retreat. “Are you finished? Let me assist you.”
“I’m done,” he replied, stepping out.
She spun around, then hurried forward and embraced him from behind. “Vance…”
He gave no reaction, and she whispered, “I don’t care about any titles. I just want to be with you.”
Her hands reached beneath his robe, but he grasped her wrist.
“Cathy, you mean a great deal to me, but this wouldn’t be right for you.”
“I don’t mind.”
“But I do.”
She held on tightly. “I’m scared. I can’t sleep by myself.”
“Go ahead and rest,” he said. “I’ll stay nearby, just like last time.”
Rebecca’s flight experience, in contrast, was filled with joy. She witnessed a breathtaking sunset, dozed, dined, and watched movies.
Perhaps it was her liberated state of mind, but the long journey felt surprisingly brief. She even caught a

stunning sunrise from her window seat, the rays dazzling.
It was truly magnificent.
As the sky brightened further, the plane prepared for landing. Announcements rotated in different languages.
“We’re almost there, Rebecca. How are you feeling?” Desmond showed her a photo on his phone, one he had captured of her admiring the sunrise.
The sunlight illuminated her face, giving her an almost luminous quality.
“It’s stunning,” he remarked. “Can I include this in my post?”
Rebecca saw no reason why not; it was an excellent shot. “Sure.”
“I’ll forward it to you once we land,” he said, flipping through the other images of her against the dawn sky.
She considered posting her own series and titling it “New Horizons”.
The plane touched down, and passengers prepared to disembark. Rebecca carried only a backpack, while some troupe members had brought instruments and specialized equipment.
Determined not to become a liability due to her leg, she sought to contribute wherever possible. She steered clear of delicate items like the instruments but assisted with luggage.
