Chapter 233
Helia, Desmond’s dance partner, felt uneasy about letting Rebecca help her.
“Rebecca was like this back at school, taking great care of us underclassmen,” Desmond chuckled, winking at her. “Don’t worry about it. Let’s go, or we’ll end up blocking the aisle.”
Half-understanding, Helia proceeded without another word. But on the path to baggage claim, she asked him for clarification.
“Rebecca wants to lend a hand. She is concerned about not being useful to the troupe. If she offers to do something, just let her,” he explained.
She nodded in realization, then regarded him with a playful smile.
“What’s so funny?” He rolled his eyes before quickening his pace to catch up with Rebecca.
Rebecca had just turned on her phone and activated the local SIM card. It connected without issue, and a flood of messages poured in, including a couple from Josette asking if she had arrived safely. 3
She replied: [We’ve landed without any problems.]
Then she checked out the other messages.
Nancy: [Mr. Bradford is searching for you, Madam. He came to ask me.]
Rebecca: [Just tell him you don’t know.]
The rest of the messages were mostly from Vance.
[Where are you?]
[Why can’t I reach you?]
[Are you at home?]
[Don’t tell me you haven’t returned since yesterday!]
[Where on earth are you? The security footage shows no trace.]
[Your last appearance on camera was around four in the morning. What were you doing up so early?]
The rest centered around the topic. Numerous missed video calls had been automatically canceled due
to no answers.
Before she could finish scrolling, her phone vibrated with a video request from Vance,
There was no chance she would accept it now. She just let it ring until it timed out. He was still at the island resort; he would discover the truth soon enough upon his return.
Spotting Josette’s latest message, Rebecca shifted to a cheerful voice note exchange with her.

On the first day, the group’s primary focus was checking into the hotel, with rooms assigned two to a space. Rebecca shared hers with Lauren.
As the troupe leader, Lauren efficiently organized everyone and recommended a full day of downtime: to acclimate to the time difference and, if desired, to go out for some light exploration.
“Tired?” Lauren asked upon returning to the room, where Rebecca was sorting through her belongings.
“Not at all. I’ve got plenty of energy left,” Rebecca replied joyfully.
If the car accident five years ago hadn’t occurred, she would have participated in the troupe’s fall tour that year.
She recalled Lauren’s inspiring words vividly: “Bring our dance traditions to stages around the world, introducing the essence of our heritage to global audiences.”
Tragically, with her visa already secured, a simple summer trip home had shattered those plans. Now, being here felt like realizing her dream.
Lauren smiled at her enthusiasm. “Get some rest. I’ll go check on the others.”
“Sure. If there’s anything you need me to handle, just let me know.” Rebecca was eager to immerse herself in the work.
“Rest assured, we don’t tolerate idleness in this troupe,” Lauren teased. “Just recharge first.”
But as soon as she lay down, Rebecca received a message from Jenny: [Rebecca, is this you? It has to be!]
Attached was a screenshot of Desmond’s post. He had posted a nine-photo grid, captioned: [More beautiful than the sunrise.]
The photos included the meal on the plane, the scenery after arrival, and Rebecca’s profile as she watched the sunrise on the plane.
