Rebecca burst into laughter.

In truth, she had gone through similar experiences during her younger days. Dance training demanded immense physical energy, and with constant dieting, it was hard to maintain stamina.

Even though her responsibilities that day had focused on logistics and support, they had still been demanding, leaving her genuinely famished by now.

In this foreign setting, as the evening wore on, the group huddled around the table, inhaling the savory aroma from the stew. It created a sense of genuine contentment and ease.

Just then, Rebecca’s phone buzzed with an incoming video call from Vance. She recalled one of his earlier messages mentioning that he had returned to Soliaridge.

He must have discovered the divorce agreement and was now reaching out to discuss it. She quietly took her phone and slipped into the bathroom to answer the call.

But to her surprise, it was Catherine who appeared on the screen.

“Rebecca,” Catherine called out, then began moving about.

Rebecca could see that Catherine was in the apartment where she and Vance had called home for five years. The latter paced from the living room into the kitchen, where Vance was cooking.

Clearly, Catherine was showing off their cozy cohabitation.

“Vance…” she sounded anxious, “come over and talk to Rebecca.”

Vance glanced at the camera for half a second, then went back to cooking. Yet Catherine kept pushing, ” Come on, Vance. We need to explain to her.”

He ignored her request, and she turned back to the phone. “Rebecca, I’m truly sorry for dragging Vance on the trip. He agreed with my insistence. Please don’t hold it against him. It’s my fault.”

What an interesting way to apologize! On the surface, it portrayed Vance as having been reluctantly coerced, but in essence, it was a subtle boast about their bond.

After all, not just anybody can pester someone else’s husband like that. But whether this was sincere remorse or a veiled taunt, it held no power over Rebecca anymore. She wasn’t even interested.

The joy of dancing was intoxicating, and the world was brimming with wonders. Why squabble over one

man?

“It’s alright,” Rebecca replied calmly. “You don’t have to apologize. From here on, whatever plans you make with him are none of my concerns. And Mr. Bradford back there, if you have no problems with the divorce agreement, don’t contact me again.”

“Things are not what you think,” Catherine hastily explained. “He hasn’t done anything wrong. This is my

fault. He wanted to go with you; I held him back. If you need to blame someone, blame me.”

“Say no more, Cathy,” Vance interrupted, forking a morsel of meat into her mouth. “Give this a taste. Should I add more salt?”

“No, it’s perfect. Wow, this is good! Your cooking is amazing.” She angled the phone toward Rebecca. See this? The dishes Vance prepared-they’re a feast for the eyes and nose. Come home. You’re so fortunate to have a man like him.”

Rebecca almost laughed out loud. So, this was the point of the video call-to shove their domestic bliss in her face. Vance was indeed capable, but he had never fully demonstrated his versatility for her benefit.

“Alright. Put the phone down and stop chattering. It’s time to eat,” Vance said.

“Alright.” Catherine set the phone aside without ending the call.

From Rebecca’s perspective, the screen now displayed the kitchen ceiling, yet Catherine’s voice continued to transmit clearly.

“Vance, ah, don’t…”

“I’m just carrying you out.”

“Hey, put me down.”

“Ah, easy.”
