Chapter 240
Vance didn’t bother reading the full agreement. The short note alone elicited a cold laugh from him as he flung the papers onto the desk.
Catherine reached for the stack. Seeing no objection from him, she picked it up and scanned it before reading more carefully.
She felt a sense of relief upon realizing that Rebecca had kept quiet about the volunteer experience from years ago. But her relief quickly turned to shock as she discovered the numerous properties registered under Rebecca’s name, along with the company shares.
Even if Rebecca forfeited additional assets, divorcing would still grant her financial independence.
“Rebecca is seeking a divorce?” Catherine murmured. “Don’t let this devastate you.”
She had intended to add that he still had their support, but he cut her off, asserting, “She won’t go through with it. This is just another tantrum. She has done it before, threatening me with a divorce whenever she is upset.”
He pulled out his phone and began searching online, soon locating a relevant news article: Arelmoor Dance Academy, in collaboration with several troupes, embarked on a month-long European tour.
A sense of relief washed over him. “It’s only for a month. When she returns, I’ll teach her a proper lesson.
She has become far too willful.”
Disappointment clouded Catherine’s face. “This is all my fault. If I hadn’t insisted you join me on the islands, she wouldn’t have left. I’m so sorry.”
“It has nothing to do with you,” he reassured her. “You must be exhausted from all the rushing around. Why don’t you go home and get some rest?”
“I’m not tired.” She shook her head. “I can’t leave you alone at a time like this. I’ll stay here with you.”
Rebecca went to bed late but woke up early the next morning, brimming with inexhaustible energy.
That evening, the troupe was scheduled for a full-dress rehearsal, so the day promised to be hectic. There was the stage design to assemble, costumes to prepare, and a multitude of logistical details to
manage.
After calculating the time difference and video chatting with Josette to update her on the busy schedule, Rebecca threw herself fully into the tasks.
She assisted Lauren with overall coordination, lent a hand to the stage crew during downtime, and helped the wardrobe team organize the outfits.
There wasn’t a single idle moment, and she quickly became familiar with nearly every member of the troupe. Many already recognized her by her old nickname-Swallow.
Observing her dedication and positivity despite her leg injury, everyone was genuinely moved and grew

During the evening rehearsal, Desmond took the male lead role, with Helia as the female lead,
Rebecca sat in the audience and watched intently, applauding so vigorously that her palms turned red.
By the time the rehearsal concluded, it was already ten o’clock. The group packed up and returned to
their accommodations.
After her shower, Rebecca had settled in for the night when Desmond messaged her, inviting her for a late-night snack.
She was puzzled. Where could they possibly find food at this hour? The streets emptied after dark,
leaving only pubs open, but alcohol was off-limits for them.
Both Desmond and Helia urged her to meet in the lobby promptly. Intrigued, Rebecca invited Lauren to
join.
“I’ll sit this one out. They already asked me, but I don’t like eating late,” Lauren explained. “You young
folks go ahead and enjoy yourselves.”
Rebecca took the elevator down to the lobby, where Helia was waiting. Upon seeing her, Helia linked arms with her and led the way. “Come on. They’re all gathered in Desmond’s room.”
Arriving there, Rebecca discovered a room full of people. On the table lay pasta, fresh fruit, and beef
stew.
“Wow, you’re indulging in secret treats!” she joked.
“Lauren knows,” Helia grinned, still holding her hand. “This is totally legitimate.”
