Chapter 243
Rebecca had taken pains to escape that mire.
Scrolling upward revealed more messages, all sent that night, but she wasn’t interested in reading them.
Rebecca: [I’ve made my point clear enough. Unless it’s to confirm the divorce, please stop contacting me. I won’t be checking them.]
Vance’s reply came right away: [Threatening me with divorce? You really think I’ll be intimidated?]
She really wasn’t threatening him; she just had just grown tired of saying this phrase over and over.
Rebecca: [I’ve left the divorce agreement at home. You must have seen it. If divorce doesn’t faze you, then let’s proceed. We’ll finalize it upon my return.]
Vance: [Fine.]
With his confirmation, she exhaled in relief. That was what she needed.
However, he soon forwarded two photographs. One depicted him and Catherine at the seaside villa, and another showed them seated at the dining table in the apartment where she and Vance had resided for
five years.
Apparently, the spread was what Vance had just cooked.
Vance: [You see, I’m not lacking in appeal. Others would value me.]
Rebecca sent a “nodding” emoji: [Wish you happiness.]
She ignored him and resumed browsing social media.
Once, she was insecure and sensitive, keeping herself in a small circle. She rarely checked her social media feed. Now she found joy in browsing through it and reading posts about other people’s daily lives.
She enjoyed seeing their meals, the setting sun, the rising dawn… These simple, yet vibrant glimpses of
life warmed her heart.
But then, she came across Vance’s post.
She had known him for 12 years and had witnessed him post only twice. The first was the image of intertwined hands, one wearing an extravagant diamond and the other a simple silver ring.
This time, it was a collage of nine photos featuring Catherine, captioned: [Fate decrees that someone will accompany me through life. Grateful for your return to my side.]
She almost reminded him, “If you marry Catherine, you’ll end up broke.”
In the end, she held back because engaging in disputes with trash wasn’t worth it. She simply scrolled
past the post, much like how their lives had briefly overlapped and then gone their separate ways.

Vance’s ostentatious update didn’t generate significant buzz, and no one sent her a screenshot. That was predictable since their overlapping contacts consisted primarily of high school classmates and Aiden’s circle.
She had already blocked Aiden and his associates, rendering their reactions invisible to her. As for their high school classmates…
Since the images didn’t feature her, no one would be so indelicate as to comment: [Vance, why did you change your wife?]
Nor would anyone send screenshots to her. That would probably just spark whispers in various private chats.
In any case, the ridicule wasn’t directed at her. Whatever the gossip, it held no relevance to her life.
The following day brought the formal performance. She dedicated the day to managing venue operations and backstage support.
As the production concluded and the cast emerged for curtain calls amid waves of applause, she experienced a deep-seated pride as an integral part of this ensemble.
She yearned to reclaim her place on that stage, and it prompted her to think of the rehabilitation program. So, after the group dispersed, she went to the rehearsal hall alone.
