Chapter 246
Apart from holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays, the everyday snapshots had mostly been captured by Rebecca covertly.
She had documented five years of him through her camera-a testament to her overflowing affection.
Only when deeply in love with someone would one desire to preserve every aspect of them, never growing weary of photographing or admiring.
That was five years-nearly two thousand days. Even at one photo per day, that would amount to over a thousand, and in reality, she had taken far more than one each day.
She hesitated no longer. Her finger slid across the screen to select them all, then tapped Delete.
Five years-more than two thousand days were erased with just a few gestures. One final sweep cleared the recently deleted folder, and every trace of him vanished from her album.
Her phone suddenly felt vacant, and a portion of her heart echoed that emptiness. Yet it brought no grief.
It resembled those popular online decluttering videos. Discarding clutter left the space refreshed and bathed in sunlight.
Outside, the sky was a profound blue, with sunlight gilding the world in radiant gold. It was mesmerizing.
It was evening in Soliaridge.
Vance returned to his office. As he pushed open the door, he was greeted by a cascade of flower petals
from above.
Surveying the room, he noticed it had been adorned with balloons and bouquets.
“Happy birthday!” Catherine’s voice, soft yet vibrant, rang out as she, Aiden, and Lucas emerged from their hiding spots.
That was when he remembered it was his birthday. For the past five years, he had always forgotten his birthday. It had always been Rebecca reminding him.
The thought of that name caused him to frown, and he swiftly pushed it out of his mind.
Catherine’s smiling face loomed large before him, and he chuckled, “How did you guys know it’s my birthday? And going to such elaborate lengths?”
“I might not have remembered, but Cathy certainly did,” Aiden replied.
“Without her, we wouldn’t have thought of something this sentimental,” Lucas said, winking at Catherine.
“I’ve already reserved a restaurant. Just waiting for you to get out of work,” Catherine said playfully.” Allow me to treat you to a birthday dinner?”

“No way,” Vance laughed. “It’s my treat.”
Catherine’s eyes crinkled with delight. “Then let’s
go.”

“Let me just put this away.” Vance placed his bag in the cabinet. “Ready.”
The other three left in high spirits, with Vance following. He glanced down at his phone, but there were
no messages.
“Vance! Hurry up! What are you doing back there?” Catherine called from ahead.
“Coming.” He pocketed the phone and strode to catch up.
The restaurant was located near Catherine’s current residence.
“This place is ideal. If we end up drinking too much, we can just head straight to my place to crash,” she
explained.
“That makes perfect sense,” Aiden agreed with a smile. “Whatever you suggest is spot on.
Catherine gave him a sidelong glance and told the waiter about her reservation information.
“Right this way.” The waiter escorted them to the private room.
As the door swung open, music filled the air. Flowers and balloons were everywhere. The large LCD
screen on the opposite wall was playing a video, displaying photos of him with Catherine, Aiden, and Lucas from their university days.
